"Provided that such right of pre-emption shall not be held to extend to any of the Aborigines of this continent" Not only was the land stolen, but First Nations were one of only 2 groups who weren't even allowed to try and get it back. bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document…

Those eastern idiots on the @NVanCaroline team tried to bully a future Minister.
Aaron Pete@Aaronpete_

I have to be honest. Caroline has been more than happy to use Indigenous policy as a wedge issue. Focusing on DRIPA, land acknowledgements, private property, and new rules around the who can go to public parks. That’s totally okay. They are all policies, worthy of discussion, debate, and civil discourse. But this statement seems inconsistent with some of her other comments. The Indian Act is arguably the most racist policy and it still exists today. So you might say - why doesn’t she do an interview about all these things where we can have a thoughtful discussion. My team reached out like 3x via email, with no response. Then I messaged one of her team members who said after March 20, and they said that publicly. Where they said “I shouldn’t make public statements” about trying to get an interview. Then it was moved to after the first debate and they committed to following up - with no follow up since. If you make a lot of your political campaign centred around Indigenous issues, you’d think they’d be glad to speak with an Indigenous person about them. I think I’ve been very reasonable, open minded and respectful to guests who have strong views. I also, don’t want to pretend I’m the only interviewer to offer polite push back. But I haven’t seen any interviews that challenge these statements respectfully. I feel I’ve waited a very reasonable amount of time before saying this. My first reach out was February 23. I just think people who are seeking to become Premier, and have policy prescriptions for our Province, should seek opportunities to have those understandings discussed, and challenged for the betterment of all citizens. But maybe I’m crazy.

hahaha, Jas absolutely knows what is going on and why. I agree - release the names of the rejected members, the reason why they were rejected, and whose leadership campaign signed them up. I heard Ajaib Bagri moved to Surrey and we don't want another one of THOSE situations.
Jas Johal@JasJohalBC

1/3 We're at that part of the BC Conservative leadership campaign where the culling of new South Asian members begins, for a variety of manufactured reasons. (What a vague email). Once the race ends, the pandering to the community will resume right on schedule. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Jim's one of the dirtiest players when it comes to muddying the waters in First Nations relations. Chief Casimir did not file the land claim, that was done years and years ago under Chief Gottfriedson and other SSN leaders of the time. (also yes I know they aren't "chiefs" anymore but I can spell "chief" on my keyboard not Kopke). The T'kemlups band has a strong history of working well with all of its neighbours. So well, in fact, that I believe the region would be much better off with full involvement from the band. The T'kemlups reserve has seen nothing but progress over the last decades while the @cityofkamloops has steadily deteriorated. It is much easier to do businees on band land than it is on unceded land currently under the incorporated, incompetent, and increasingly fascist administration of @cityofkamloops council. In regards to the 215 anomalies, that story has been twisted beyond belief for whatever political purpose the twister has in mind. First, it has nothing to do with land claims. Next, Casimir was informed of the findings by a scientist whose expertise she trusted. Local media - in Kamloops this is a bunch of people even more inept than media in the rest of the world - became involved early and the story was twisted out of control within 48 hours. Getting back to the truth of what happened and who said what takes an amount of words that most people who "care" about this issue are not able to process. Finally, anyone who says they would refuse to take millions of dollars from the Federal government for their community and thus walk the razor thin line (and with T'kemlups chiefs there is more than one razor thin political line) when it came to the story of the 215 anomalies is lying to themselves and everyone else.
Jim McMurtry@JimMcMurtry01

Chief Casimir, who wants 1.25 million hectares around Kamloops and 50% of the region’s revenue forever, now goes by Chief Cashier.

The Eastern political operatives have clearly shown that if people don't do what they want and say what they want said, they will destroy Conservative campaigns. They have also clearly shown that their strategies don't work but continue to be paid money to employ those strategies. This country doesn't get back on track until those vampires are fully exposed to sunlight.

Sometimes you just have to ask yourself, who is writing his statements. I can’t wait until this leader ship race is over, hopefully the party Comms team will get a reality check that fake/embellished news is not a good look for a party that wants to be government. #factsmatter

How many times can @TrevHal mislead British Columbians before they start to lose trust in his leadership? I've hit my quota. Oil still sells at global market prices.

Young Conservatives today engage in the culture war campaigns handed to them by political operatives not understanding that the targets of previous culture wars in Conservative circles are influential Conservatives now. If you were a conservative voter back in the '90s and early 2000s and you advocated for things like gay marriage and adoption, you were not considered a True Conservative and the social/political penalties were pretty high. If you're a young Conservative, keep that in mind. The people you are told to target today will likely be the leaders of the future. Immigrants, trans, indigenous. Using broad strokes to paint groups of people for political points is a short sighted, destructive strategy.

Classic deflection, doesn't want to deal with the meat of what I said. It could be that @Anthony__Koch was too stupid to read what I said and not realize I had obviously checked out Pallas or I would not know where it is based out of. Grade 10 reading comprehension level or just a classic case of manipulation from a master. Either way, once again it is clear that the Conservative parties in this country are in the thrall of some political operatives who are not healthy for the parties or for the country.
Anthony Koch@Anthony__Koch

Pallas actually has a great track record in BC. You should check it out.

Here is the non politician approach. Politicians want you to target the drive thru person at Tim Hortons. It's the TFWs who are not honoring their original contracts, the ones working under the table and the ones at jobs which are beyond entry level who are doing the damage. It's not just trucking, it permeates the entire supply chain.

They sure did during the election! Of course I checked it out before I wrote anything Anthony, you guys are so arrogantly dismissive. Major issues. As I said, this is a leadership race not a general election and you commissioned the poll. Your team can't be trusted as far as the public goes, you are master manipulators. A poll this far apart from what we've seen out of neutral parties should raise questions. Elliot has what 2 endorsements from sitting MLAs? All MLAs are nervous about backing the wrong candidate in a leadership race because there are consequences. Particularly when the supposed front runner depends on the acumen of ithers. A poll like this is designed more to silence than to accurately inform.

In a leadership race, polls are a great way to scare sitting MLAs into staying on the sidelines. There are huge discrepancies between this commissioned poll from a Toronto based company and what we have seen in BC polling.
Anthony Koch@Anthony__Koch

We (Team Caroline Elliott) have been publishing our internals at nearly every point in the race, and predictably, folks say our internals are “made up”. This time, our campaign commissioned a 3rd party poll to see if it validated our internals. I’m very happy to say that it has. Here’s what we’ve been seeing (and what Pallas confirms). 1. Yuri experienced a surge in the immediate aftermath of his OneBC deal (from approximately 8% to approximately 18%) since the video we dropped of him saying we live on stolen land, and people starting to really think about the implications of the OneBC Deal, he has dropped back to where he was. 2. Elliott and Black have gained but the primary beneficiary of Yuri's collapse has been KLF. She is now in second place being chased by Black. 3. Iain Black and Peter Milobar have been locked in a “mini-primary” over who gets to be the standard bearer for the so-called “BC Liberal wing” of the Party. It’s clear that at present, Iain is winning that fight. 4. Yuri has spent most of the campaign attacking Caroline but 2nd ballot polling shows there are VERY few voters to get from her. He’s competing primarily with KLF for the same voter pool. 5. Caroline is still strongly in first place. 6. Undecideds are down to 12%. Much smaller than at earlier points in the race. 7. Still a lot of time left on the ice.

This guy has a point about racism increasing when people feel like they aren't getting what they deserve but he's just a bit smarter than the racists - his take is parochial. This phenomenon has nothing to do with the USA or Trump or Fox, it always happens all over the world and white people aren't the only ones to engage in it.
James Tate@JamesTate121

You see this kind of thing in struggling lower-income Southern households, and it tells a very specific story. When life hasn't delivered much.... no wealth, no power, no real social standing.... some folks discover that white supremacy is basically a free membership card to a club that makes them feel superior without requiring any actual achievement. It's the world's laziest status symbol. The starter kit is always the same: *A Confederate flag honoring a war their ancestors lost badly 160 years ago. *A gun they'll never actually need. *A Bible they've never actually read. *And Fox News running 24/7 telling them they're REAL Americans.... unlike those fancy elitist Democrats who are secretly importing an army of replacement voters to steal their.... Their what exactly? Their Dollar General? Their 1987 Camaro on cinder blocks in the yard? FOX found the formula, and they never let go of it: Take a man who has nothing, tell him the reason he has nothing is because those people are taking it.... and suddenly he's not a struggling nobody. He's a soldier in a cultural war. He matters. He's relevant. He becomes a MAGA Warrior! And THAT.... ladies and gentlemen.... is precisely how a twice-impeached, four-times-indicted, 34-time felon, bankrupt New York con man who golfs at his own resorts became the hero of the working man. You genuinely cannot make this stuff up. And I write this so that hopefully they will recognize what they have done and what they are doing and snap out of it..... I was born and raised in Appalachia ... These very people could be my relatives ..... but ... I .... got common sense from my granny ----- "question everything". VIA~Lee Murphy

Many disagree! What I am looking at are results; when I look at my life, my kids' lives, my friends' lives and the lives of my friends' kids now as compared to how things were in the late '90s and very early 2000s things just aren't as bad. There are some national and global issues - rising costs, the addiction crisis - which are obviously worse but no jurisdiction seems to have a handle on those yet. The debt's worse too but that is also a global phenomenon. I think it will get worse under Eby I just don't think we're there yet.

I do not agree. I was just talking to a friend I went to school with through the '90s in BC. I think Eby is pretty bad but we aren't at Clark level yet. The rest of the world - including the rest of Canada - was booming economically when Clark put BC into the usual NDP hole. Eby is operating in a global economy which is in an unofficial recession (politicos rarely speak about that because everyone wants to paint the political opponent's jurisdiction as the only one suffering). Under Eby, my kids and my friends' kids can still get jobs and they are jobs that pay quite well. Under Clark, we could barely land jobs at McDonald's due to all the competition. Relationships with First Nations under Eby still haven't reached the low level they did with Clark. The "stand off" at Gustafsen Lake under Clark was really more like a war than a stand off. What troubles me most about the Eby situation is that there is a clear pattern when it comes to our governments. So clear that it must be planned, but we don't know who is really doing the planning.
Marc Haslam@marchaslam1

@CoryBMorgan When you thought the Glen Clark NDP was bad, David Eby has taken “bad” to a new level best described as “appalling!”
