It's terribly ironic that a country that worships celebrities, is obsessed with Image over Reality, swims in myths and lies created by pop culture, advertising and the media, is now being destroyed by a product of that very system.

@medus4_cdc 1999 is as far back in the past as The Spiral Staircase (1946) was to some young person in 1973 watching The Exorcist.

My teenager said she wants to watch an "old school horror movie" I suggested "House on Haunted Hill" with Vincent Price. She said "no, I was thinking something classic, like The Blair Witch Project" Anyway, I'm going to die of old age any day now

Hegseth: "We're still dealing with the environment Joe Biden created—depleting our stockpiles and sending them to Ukraine instead of our own military. Every time we face a challenge, it traces back to 'Well, sent it to Ukraine.'" It looks like they’re just going to blame Ukraine whenever anything goes wrong now, doesn’t it? It’s depressing to watch because while this administration will eventually leave office, a segment of Americans will keep hating Ukraine without even remembering why.

Denmark had seriously prepared for a possible US attack on Greenland earlier this year, troops that were sent under the guise of exercise were equipped with explosives and prepared to blow key runways and bridges-DR Wow...

Trump: NATO doesn’t want to help us defend the strait and they're the ones that need it. But now they're getting much nicer because they're seeing my attitude. But it's as far as I'm concerned, it's too late. UK wants to send aircraft carriers now. And I said, I want the aircraft carriers before the war. I don't want them after the war is won. There's practically nobody to shoot at them.

This Trump presidency may go down in history as the worst ever Could potentially enter us into the most unaffordable period of our lives alongside a significant war Maybe an 80 year old narcissist as president was a bad idea after all, but in our defense we didn’t really have another option

@MaitreyaBhakal You’re joking, right if Iran could do that they would do it in a heartbeat. Right now they basically have nothing almost nothing and they’ve lost the top 250 people almost an entire entirety their top 250 people all exterminated.

Israel is so small that Iran can destroy all of its desalination plants and its entire power grid within just a few hours. Just imagine what will happen to the settler population then, without water and electricity. Ask yourself why Iran is not doing that.

@batcountry1980 My first Zeppelin album. I always say I don’t have a favourite by them, as, having been a fan for 50 yrs, depending on the day of the week it could be any of the first 7! The perfect sized catalogue.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see this mentioned much when people talk of their favourite Zep albums. Don’t know why because it’s a topper. The bombastic rush of the opening song into the mystic splendour of The Rain Song is one of their great one-two punches. The whole album flows wonderfully from track to track, though. Not a fan of The Crunge, but the rest is excellent. Aye, even D’yer Mak’er.

@TaraAnnThieke Humans are tribal creatures, and this kind of tribalism taken to an extreme ("only my tribe matters, all the rest should die, god is on our side") has been found throughout history. I don't know if humans will ever get rid of it.

Theodor Herzel was an interesting man. I came to the situation believing the Palestinians had been treated unjustly while having pursued Holocaust studies as my central interest in college. But whatever Zionism was in the interesting mind of its founder, it almost immediately was imprinted by something else, and that something else is not something I as a Christian can ever support.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

@heidiponyrider @data02 @WarMonitor3 All the other Presidents have not asked for Greenland. Denmark has been defending Greenland just fine for decades. If Trump's so concerned about Russia threatening them, maybe he can start worrying about Russia supplying intel to Iran. What happened to that hospital ship anyway?

@GrouchoG @data02 @WarMonitor3 Do you honestly think Denmark would give up Greenland if they were asked nicely? If that were true, then any president going back to Eisenhower would have gotten Greenland. All the presidents asked. Denmark can't defend Greenland.

In all seriousness, if we're going to take Hormuz we should actually take it. Annex strategic outpusts along the Iranian coast, turn them into Gibraltar by way of the Green Zone. Ring them in minefields and kill anything that approaches. More strategic than Greenland and more sensible too. If you supported that you should support this.

@data02 @WarMonitor3 Yeah. And they're right. A $40 drone can take out a million dollar ship. The only ones with real done warfare experience are the Ukrainians, Russians, Israelis, Iran and Iranian proxies. America is new to drone warfare. Imagine where the Europeans are in the line up.
