@batcountry1980 My first Zeppelin album. I always say I don’t have a favourite by them, as, having been a fan for 50 yrs, depending on the day of the week it could be any of the first 7! The perfect sized catalogue.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see this mentioned much when people talk of their favourite Zep albums. Don’t know why because it’s a topper. The bombastic rush of the opening song into the mystic splendour of The Rain Song is one of their great one-two punches. The whole album flows wonderfully from track to track, though. Not a fan of The Crunge, but the rest is excellent. Aye, even D’yer Mak’er.

Waterworld (1995) is over-hated. Strip away the budget jokes and what’s left is a huge, strange, ambitious adventure packed with real stunts and a fully built world. It’s messy, but there’s way more movie there than people remember.

@TaraAnnThieke Humans are tribal creatures, and this kind of tribalism taken to an extreme ("only my tribe matters, all the rest should die, god is on our side") has been found throughout history. I don't know if humans will ever get rid of it.

Theodor Herzel was an interesting man. I came to the situation believing the Palestinians had been treated unjustly while having pursued Holocaust studies as my central interest in college. But whatever Zionism was in the interesting mind of its founder, it almost immediately was imprinted by something else, and that something else is not something I as a Christian can ever support.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

If Trump's so concerned about Russia threatening them, maybe he can start worrying about Russia supplying intel to Iran. What happened to that hospital ship anyway?

In all seriousness, if we're going to take Hormuz we should actually take it. Annex strategic outpusts along the Iranian coast, turn them into Gibraltar by way of the Green Zone. Ring them in minefields and kill anything that approaches. More strategic than Greenland and more sensible too. If you supported that you should support this.

@data02 @WarMonitor3 Yeah. And they're right. A $40 drone can take out a million dollar ship. The only ones with real done warfare experience are the Ukrainians, Russians, Israelis, Iran and Iranian proxies. America is new to drone warfare. Imagine where the Europeans are in the line up.

War is very much unlike politics in that bluster and bullshit gets exposed by physical realities very quickly. I've long thought that if there was one thing that would trip Trump up badly, it would be getting into a major war; it's something that his approach is uniquely unsuited to.
