I did this with zombies in spaceland in like 2014-2015
I sent an email of the idea to thesmithplays because I really wanted an Amusement park in zombies
Not exactly how I pictured it but I will always love ZIS for that

It’s kinda scary but I feel like I quasi manifested Totenreich 😭 When I was a senior in high school I came up with several map ideas for zombies maps for fun, and one of them was a Group 935 map set in a Group 935 outpost in Norway, called “Die Dämmerung” (German for ‘The Twilight’, a reference to Ragnarök) and there would’ve been tunnels underneath with huge statues of the Norse Gods, and there would’ve been 3 wonder weapons: Gungnir (Odin’s Spear) Mjölnir (Thor’s Hammer) and the Fang of Jormungandr You have no idea how fulfilling it is to see that it’s basically coming to life with Totenreich

We are in a golden age content wise compared to where we were 3 years ago
Unfortunate that people won’t realize how good we have it till it’s too late

It sucks that Chaos was canned I know a lot of people were burned by that but at the same time I wonder who’s genius idea it was to lock pivotal story details behind the comics

First impressions of Totenreich: this map looks like it could be straight out of BO1/BO3. Nazi Zombies giving OG/WWII Zombies vibes. Map looks grungy and gritty which feels like an old school aesthetic. Lighthouse & Origins Robot, need I say more? Finally, the logo is hinting at Norse mythology which could be hella promising. Solid first impressions.

More people probably would’ve cared if it wasn’t in the same game that was promising an epic conclusion to the 10 year storyline

Hmmm, interesting... It's almost like if people would have shut up and given the new story a chance, we could have gotten peak. I never wanna hear the argument again that the community and big youtubers didn't help in the downfall of zombies.

I think it’ll be totally fair to say that it takes certain inspiration from it but overall I think this will flow completely differently from CotD + Tag

They’re actually putting the effort into making awesome theories and lore deep dives and it’s very reminiscent of many of the theory channels from the BO3 days

The Dark Aether is a puzzle dimension. There genuinely isn't one way it SHOULD look. Mars looked like... Mars, and I didn't see anyone complain then. I think having a map or two that look less the standard purple realm that we've grown accustomed too is great for variety.

I understand the criticisms of the map not feeling like it’s located in the Dark Aether… But what exactly does that mean? Like weren’t we tired of the purple sky boxes and purple crystals? Also, the Dark Aether was set-up to look like some of these areas because these are places pulled into the Dark Aether.

Although him playing classic maps would be cool ofc, I am VERY interested to see what is his opinion on modern zombies maps, and the direction the mode took after he left.

@Vermontious The only real connections to Norse mythology was the planets step forming Yggdrasil sort of and the boss being Odin’s eye but that name really is only community coined iirc
