Ain’t no way man… The funny thing is…other than Miami and Clemson, people view the ACC like a G6 conference. Thats why they had to lobby to get the “best” team in because their champion went 0-2 vs the G5 last year. Also, when SMU got bludgeoned by Penn State 2 years ago, they got the same media treatment as G6 teams do. No matter how much money you pay to have a patch on your shoulder, you’re not the brand name you think you are.

Boise State and Penn State was competitive. Cincinnati played Alabama as good as anyone did in that era. The sample size is 4. The Big 12, however, is 1-8 overall. Even with their one win included, their average margin of defeat? 3 TDs… But we all know a final score doesn’t indicate how competitive a game is. A 21 point game could be the losing team scores a garbage TD late to cut to 21…or it could be the losing team tried to be ultra aggressive and gave up another late.

Blowouts happen on occasion when you match teams from power conferences in the college ball playoff. But they happen in EVERY game that a G5 team is in. G5 teams loses playoff games by an average of more than three touchdowns. They have never played a competitive playoff game.

Week 0 is honestly loaded - UNC vs TCU is a fun out of conference game (should be played on campus but whatever) - NC State vs Virginia is an interesting conference matchup (not a conference game though). Both teams should have powerful offenses. So fireworks will ensue. - Jacksonville St. vs ND St. is ND St.’s first game as a D1 team and against a traditionally upper shelf G6 team in the Gamecocks. - Hawaii vs Stanford has legitimate G6 over P4 upset potential. Hawaii has a chance to be a G6 playoff rep in 2026. - Memphis vs UNLV is an elite G6 matchup. Memphis HC Charles Huff is in his first season with the Tigers and is known for his defensive prowess. UNLV HC Dan Mullen is in his second season with the Rebels and is known for his offensive prowess. Which is your favorite matchup and why?
