Because ESPN's SOS is calculated off its preseason FPI. As a reminder, ESPN had NINE of the top 13 preseason last year coming from the SEC. Nine! Those 9 teams were, by ESPN's own year-end FPI, preseason overrated by an AVERAGE of almost 10 spots each.

Exactly. “FOUR STRAIGHT RANKED WINS!” is literally what got them into the CFP last year, and then Missouri and Tennessee both finished unranked with zero wins over bowl eligible teams. Gotta get handed those ranked wins in August to beef up the résumé. 😂

My Official 2026 South Carolina Prediction 10-2 (7-2) Reasons: - We don't have a stacked schedule first half of the year for the first time in forever - First two games are to get the team to gel and work out the kinks. - Miss St at Home is most ideal SEC opener. - Should've beat Bama past two seasons I think this is the team and the year to do it. - Florida in Gainesville will always be tough - Tennessee coming to Willy B is very good situation - Oklahoma will be stacked this year - A&M past two years have played them well at Home I like our chances - Arkansas is a trap game but should be a nail biter W - Beamer always gets stronger in November and those final two games just scream a Beamer Special of Two solid wins Question is will that be enough to get to Atlanta and the CFP? I think there will be several 11-1 or 10-2 teams in the SEC most notably: LSU Texas Ole Miss UGA Oklahoma Will they put 6+ SEC Teams in? Don't see it and I think we'd be on the outside looking in like in 2024
