The Artemis II crew explains why stars remain hidden in their mission views:

NASA ARTEMIS II MISSION UPDATE: DAY 8 The crew and the Orion capsule are now approximately 139,198 km (86,500 mi) away from the Moon. They are also about 317,923 km (197,542 mi) away from Earth and are traveling at around 3,037 km/h (1,887 mph). The mission is also approximately 74.4% complete. Yesterday was a relatively quiet day, as the crew were able to spend the majority of the day recovering after an extremely busy day for the lunar flyby the day before. The day began with crew wakeup, followed by exiting the lunar sphere of influence. Following that was the Crew Daily Planning Conference (DPC), and afterward was the PAO: Orion to ISS crew call event. Then, slightly later in the day, there was the post-lunar flyby science debrief, followed by a crew off-duty period before Return Trajectory Correction (RTC) burn #1 was performed. Finally, the day ended with another sleep period. Now onto today, the crew is awake. This will be followed by a Crew Daily Planning Conference (DPC) at 17:50 UTC (MET+6/19:15). Then, following that, will be the PAO: CSA downlink event at 23:20 UTC (MET+7/00:45). After that will be the Radiation Shielding Deployment Demonstration at 00:15 UTC (MET+7/01:40). And following that will be another Manual Piloting Developmental Flight Test Objective (DFTO) at 02:59 UTC (MET+7/04:24). Then finally the crew will move into the pre-sleep period at 05:05 UTC (MET+7/06:30) followed by the sleep period at 07:12 UTC (MET+7/08:30), bringing this flight day's activities to an end.
