here’s the facts: If Bungie properly balanced the Marathon sandbox (which they are fully capable of doing) instead of leaving it to whatever players complain about each week, the community WOULD NOT constantly fight each-other. We are literally set against each-other, because they keep letting broken metas thrive. You shouldn’t be able to have 500 frag nades that literally ONE SHOT BLUE SHIELDS, and lose everything to a nade. That’s worse than the goo gun (end game weapon) and MOST PRESTIGE weapons. It is genuinely good for the overall health of the game for them to keep listening to community feedback and nerf things. HOWEVER, the nerfs they are doing ARE TOO MUCH: WSTR, knife, etc. It is almost as if they want us to argue to make more traction…. like they did in Destiny 2….

@PabloMakes Pablo, all of you points are very valid. I agree with all of them. However you're missing something that could make things more engaging. When was the last time we had leaderboards? We have events that release. But no leaderboards. So just farm what you need and get off... cmon

Warframe shines in variety and power fantasy and I think these pillars are just not compatible with grueling challenge. And a raid without challenge is just a mission with more people. Thank you for reading mah rant. 10/10

Got asked on devshort why I don't think raids work on WF, so sharing my thoughts. tl;dr I don't believe you can have good raids without challenge. And you can't have challenge without balance changes. 1/10

Bungie better fix this MM “bug” quickly or I guarantee it will affect a lot of the player base. In Destiny 2, they would constantly implement SBMM and then pretend it was a “bug.” SBMM will genuinely ruin a game like Marathon. The queue times are unreal and payoff is terrible.

I feel marathon unfairly gets a lot of flak for "causing destiny's downfall" as many claim it did. Destiny has been heading down this road for quite some time. The franchise fatigue has consumed the playerbase. If it wants to thrive instead barely survive, it needs to evolve.

@TheTrueVanguard The hate stems from how far downhill destiny has gone. If you purchased something from a supplier and it didnt pan out too well, would you go ahead and invest in another product from them? What they've lost is the trust of the people who used to religiously stand behind them.

Marathon is stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's an incredibly good game, but the more casual audience seems to be avoiding it. But if they dumb the game down, it will be considerably worse and I'll likely stop playing it. It's basically a phenomenal game that doesn't appeal, I guess, to a wider audience. I'm not sure what exactly the solution is, maybe it's better strategic marketing and creative efforts to onboard new players. I'm not sure. But dumbing the game down would likely fix nothing. You might get new players to temporarily try it, but then they're playing a considerably less inspired game and will bounce off it. I also think the truly bizarre pre-launch hate campaign was SUPER weird. Like, gamers can be such strange people and I say that with peace and love. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a global predisposition to hate a game the way I saw it with Marathon. People were literally parroting the exact same sentences for months, almost like they had talking points and were collectively regurgitating them. Like the places where gamers hang out (YT, Reddit, Twitch, X, etc) had posts or something hating the game that circulated so much that people just latched onto them. I dunno. Either way, it didn't do the game any favors. I'm not sure what the best path forward is but good marketing and a positive outward image might help. And the vault wipes are definitely a good thing, that's totally necessary. But I think diluting the game to make it more palatable is the wrong play personally. Short term gain maybe, but over time will actually hurt retention I think.
