In a sane world, you would see income "leakage" inversely proportional to the impact of inflation - everything's more expensive, stop spending. Covid may have influenced some, but note these sectors continued to climb - right through peak inflationary periods and onward.

@sethbannon Yes, yes...dump tens of millions into the country, create an unrecognizable culture and hopefully you'll get a dozen smart immigrants that are exceptional. Nope, I would rather roll the dice that they come here regardless of the LPR step.

Are they trying to destroy our innovation economy? We have employees in the US legally applying for permanent residency. Now they can't work with us while they wait for an answer? Immigrant founders building companies here applying for green cards have to leave? Insanity.
USCIS@USCIS

USCIS is applying long-standing law and prior court decisions to require certain aliens with temporary visas who decide they want to permanently reside in the U.S. to return to their home countries to apply for permanent visas through the @StateDept. We're returning to the original intent of the law to ensure aliens navigate our nation’s immigration system properly. Here’s what you should know: uscis.gov/newsroom/news-…

Also, when did it become immediate, "I need a house!"? My first place was a 1BD condo not in the greatest of areas, (think Saudi Aurora) but ok, 725sqft. Goal was ownership, equity. Interest on this mortgage *8.45%. It was 14+ years old already when purchased.

@SDSLLC_USA Yep - credit scores are a self-licking ice-cream cone. If you don't carry credit - you will see a decrease in your score. The rest is voodoo. I think of this when my wife gets 850 and she had 1 late payment, but me 10+ years older credit and zero dings gets 830.

Can someone explain this to me like I'm 5 years old? Last month I paid off a credit card, no high balance at all. Two weeks ago I paid off another credit card, no high balance at all. These are the only two credit cards that I have. Why did my credit score drop dramatically?

I have great sympathy for the argument that things cost more these days. I have zero sympathy for the grown adult who thinks they’re too good to eat a sandwich or throw something in a crockpot. It’s the age of the Internet. If you don’t know how to cook, learn. You have money. What you don’t have is an excuse.

@GovPressOffice Welp, commies gonna commie. 🤣😂 "Big Oil" - people (yes, even liberals that are ideologues) can see the sheer waste that comes from politicians - especially California. You are pissing away the very *additional* taxes you implement. Then go all kindergarten on your citizens.

Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron. Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean, even if it doesn’t have a fancy name like ‘Techron.’  Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.

Ken Paxton opposes amnesty. John Cornyn cuts ads in Spanish promising amnesty. That should be enough of a reason for Texas patriots to vote for Ken.

Bezos went on CNBC yesterday and said "You could double the taxes I pay and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens." And all the bureaucrats and socialists lost their minds. Promise the teacher a raise. Tax everyone. Launder the money through Washington. Then blame the billionaire. We aren't morons Ro, we've seen this before. Bezos said the bottom half of earners should pay zero federal income tax. A nurse in Queens making $75K hands the IRS $12K a year. He said cut it to zero. She keeps her full paycheck. No bs refund, paperwork or shady government program. Simple. They won't do it. And you should ask yourself why. They don't ACTUALLY want to help anyone. They just want to pretend they tried and get your votes while making you hate the ppl they scammed. They want the money to flow through Washington, the city, every ponzi department and consultant and charity so each one can wet their beak. By the time it reaches the teacher it's maybe $100, if that... And then they'll blame the billionaire who hasn't paid their "fair share." Right Warren??? Lets take a gander at Mamdani's education budget. NYC spends $42K per student per year, 3x the national average ($15K). Highest in America. Florida pays $9K. NYC spends more per pupil than most people pay for private school or college. Its frickn insane. The budget has gone up every year, enrollment has gone down. With all that money only 3 out of 10 kids can read in the 8th grade. Cuba can read better english and they speak spanish lol. So where is the money going? Def not to teachers. but shh, ro doesn't want you to know that. A starting teacher in NYC makes $65K. Mamdani's city spends $42K per kid, runs a $40B budget. You could pay every teacher six figures with that money and have 12 kids per a classroom. But thats too logical. It goes to administrators. Consultants. Overtime. Unions. Friends and family businesses. Pensions for people who left a decade ago. Studies about studies. Buildings that take ten years to renovate. Everyone else but the kids, teachers and actual schools THERE IS ENOUGH MONEY. Politicians decide where the money goes. Teachers are underpaid because of how government spends money. Not because Bezos doesn't pay enough. Then they stand outside a billionaire's apartment with a camera and tell you he's the problem. That's the SCAM. Ro Khanna says tax billionaires to fund $60K teacher salaries. NYC already spends enough to fund $100K teacher salaries. The money's there, Ro. Your people are the ones who won't give it to her. Federal level is the same story. DOE spending up 649% since 2000 and kids aren't any smarter. GAO found $186 billion in improper payments last year. $3 trillion in errors since 2003. It’s criminal. Stop taxing the nurse. No bureaucracy. Just let the woman keep her full paycheck. Outrage is deflection. They'd rather she pay. Because her keeping her own money doesn't fund the machine and they lose the one thing that keeps the whole racket going: a billionaire to blame.

@Daydream2984819 @magills_ It's a valid point. I believe there is a push/pull throughout the economy - how many restaurants closed due to covid - how much uptick in convenience - doordash, grubhub who was the beneficiary.

@anymanfitness Good stuff, Jason. There is unfortunately a mindset that exists in many today, that they cannot move past it. The 'deserve' part is something our Gen z throws out every now and again. I can't process it, never has that vernacular been voiced in our home - yet there it is.

In one of my posts I made the comment that I worked 80 hours for 3 straight years to build a side business that would provide us with a way to get ahead. Of course the comments were full of people saying I got lucky, am a Boomer, plenty of people work hard, people deserve $30 lunches, etc. But that’s my point. During that 3 year stretch I did not go out to eat for lunch ONE TIME. I packed a cheap lunch, and I worked through my lunch period while I was teaching. I would open my laptop and work on my business. I figured if I spent 180 lunch periods per year x 3 years = 540 hours working on my side biz, maybe I could get ahead for the first time ever. What do you know? It worked. Having the mindset that I didn’t “deserve” shit - I had to earn it through sacrifice and discipline - was the right move after all.

Now that I’m done shitposting, real talk. Yeah inflation is a b!tch. The cost of goods is insane. House prices are ridiculous. As are interest rates. I have 2 zoomer daughters. I worry about them all the time. I don’t know how they’ll afford a home, groceries, or anything else. Even in Michigan, a decent COL area, starter homes are $400k+. But the whole point of my Boomer-ish takes on this app are because of one fact: This isn’t going to change any time soon. You are wasting your time rage posting and getting bent out of shape on social media. Instead, do something about it. Find ways to save money. Increase your skills. Job hop to increase income. Grind, hustle, and do what you gotta do. When I first started teaching the old head union dudes would pressure me to go to protests in Lansing (capital building). They’d say “we are going to yell and scream until we get what we deserve!” I never went. It rubbed me the wrong way. I’m not about to whine, cry, beg, and complain about “the system” or “the man”. Because it’s damn near impossible to change that. But it’s not overly difficult to change yourself and your situation if you have some perseverance, grit, and a baseline of intelligence.
