Cat lover, Corrie fan, atheist, more radical the older I get, often grumpy. No time for anti vaxxers or Covid deniers. #MS #RLS

@SebPillon @batty_oldwoman I do feel sorry for you. My GP referred me to #ENT on 14 August 2025. My appointment is January 2027!! She's prescribed steroid nose spray (in case it's Covid induced polyps), she's ordered blood tests in case it's covid induced #Sjogrens. It's a bloomin nightmare.

Being a GP is now a never ending game of apologising that other services no longer offer care, explaining tests and treatments done by others, and late nights researching how to manage conditions previously handled by specialists. (Whilst being chastised for all NHS ills)

Let's take a trip through some real life examples shall we? Important to remember that specialists are employed by Trusts and NHSE who largely dictate how they should work. Speaking out is hard and I'm sure many don't relish working like this (happy to be challenged on that!)
Seb@SebPillon

Genuinely wonder if specialists are unaware of direction of travel in NHS and see themselves as untouchable. As GPs, we are used to having to constantly justify ourselves so aren't complacent. If expertise is simply replaced by "test and discharge"... Who needs a consultant?

The terrible fire in Glasgow was around a shop selling vapes illegally. The government should be banning vapes instead of an unenforceable tobacco ban. These vapes are the real problem and its where Labour should be focussing its energy. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/16022699/…

Hey @sanofi, you're providing 600k nuvaxovid doses to NHS England this year. Can you provide some to private pharmacists too? Please? Pretty please. I'll have a shout round to get plenty of takers.

@infinitestar790 Join RLS-UK help forum at Healthunlocked.com. 1st step is to get full iron panel blood tests & raise serum ferritin above 200ųg ideally via iron pills every other day.

@longevitysignal That study was of ONE 56 year old man. Until gold standard extensive trials are carried out on this- it's far too early to say whether this will be effective or not.

The treatment? Transcranial Pulse Stimulation targeting specific brain networks. Not pills. Not therapy. Direct neuromodulation. Pain dropped 67%, sleep quality restored. First documented case but the results are wild.

"Restless legs syndrome is just anxiety" is wrong. New case study shows 95% symptom reduction with targeted brain stimulation. One 56-year-old went from severe RLS to near-normal sleep in 6 sessions.

@DVDfever 🤣That's exactly right! The whole 70s section was just like an #AlanPartridge naff sketch show. It just didn't work..AT ALL.

In a landmark medical technology milestone, a fully autonomous AI-powered robotic dentist — built by US company Perceptive — completed a full crown preparation on a human patient in just 15 minutes. The same procedure typically takes a human dentist 2–2.5 hours. The robot used real-time 3D scanning, AI decision-making, and a precision robotic arm to perform the entire procedure without any human guidance or intervention mid-surgery. This isn't a concept or prototype — it's already been performed on real patients and a peer-reviewed study was published in the Journal of Dentistry in January 2026. Experts say this is the beginning of a transformation: robotic dentists could eliminate human error, work at any hour, and eventually bring high-quality dental care to remote and underserved communities where trained dentists are unavailable. The dental office of 2035 may look very different from today's.

@DVDfever I didn't mind the 1911-1916 bit, but I loathed the 70's part. Really bad casting. No chemistry between any of the characters. It was like watching the local church 'Am Dram' version. Brenda Blethyn & her daughters/granddaughter were so hammy.

@Meg14163 @dr_ericberg I started low dose buprenorphine in 2021. Iron infusions didn't help. Gabapentinoids and Oxycontin didn't work. Buprenorphine was miraculous. IRLSS score went from 39/40 to 0/40 overnight. I haven't had ANY symptoms since. Many of us are now RLS free on buprenorphine.

@GrumpyoldGould @dr_ericberg What do you take now. The iron just didn’t work for me. I’ve been researching and high ammonia levels from a sluggish liver cab also cause these symptoms. My liver was damaged from cytoxin

@Meg14163 @dr_ericberg Did the Parkinson's meds(Ropinirole, pramipexole, neupro) work at first? They ARE miraculous until they turn on you. I couldn't sit still in the daytime/in a car/in the cinema. Thankfully I managed to get off Ropinirole.

@GrumpyoldGould @dr_ericberg I tried iron and it didn’t work. It became way worse after chemo. I can’t even lay down to relax without it kicking in. Makes me wonder if chemo passing the blood brain barrier, if there is some neurological damage.

@Meg14163 @dr_ericberg Dopamine agonists are now 'last resort' meds in the USA, UK, Australia, & Italy because they actually worsen RLS over time & cause Impulse Control Disorder (gambling/spending/hypersexuality) in 20%. Definitely join rls.org to hear what the top US experts say.

Who else with #MECFS or #LC has Restless Leg Syndrome? I think this is what I’m experiencing. It only happens at night before sleep. And luckily it doesn’t keep me awake anymore but it use to. It’s such a weird sensation - the compulsion to pull, stretch & pull your legs. Can’t be ignored. I’ve had it for as long as I can remember. I’m wondering how common this is? Has anyone found anything that helps?

@dr_ericberg I have a question about this. I have bad restless legs. They say restless legs is a symptom of low iron. The medication I take to “treat” it is for Parkinson’s. I also have liver issues from chemo. Sounds to me like iron is CAUSING my symptoms not the lack of it. Advice?

@KJ50Ash @Brandon_Beaber Zero attacks. But I haven't had a relapse since starting Tysabri in 2009. I have an MRI in 3 weeks. I'm hopeful that it will show no new lesions.
