Germany may be different, but in Nederland people are now (rightly) concerned about the Dutch language declining. Taking measures (including at a private level) to encourage Dutch speaking and learning is not, although it may be motivated by that, just “to keep foreigners out”.

I love reading r/Germany on reddit cause it's just full of "all the job ads want C2 level German for back office coding work" which is an admittedly insane requirement for those positions and pretty obviously just there to keep most (EU and otherwise) foreigners out

The problem with the north is, just 15 years ago it didn't get that hot. In my childhood (Im 30) you went swimming when it cracked 20C°. Now that's chilly. The humidity is high, houses were built to retain heat, so the problem with heat got much bigger very quickly.
