Scott Weiner supported decriminalization on BART, he opposed prop 36 and was silent on the recall of Chesa Boudin despite his support of Brooke Jenkins. His public safety policy makes no sense. What is he gonna be in Congress after Trump is gone?

I’ve spent years now opposing legislation in California. The legislation is so crazy that when I try to explain it to normies, they think I’m the crazy one. I meet with the offices of the legislators pushing these insane bills, and they treat us with barely contained disdain. We register our opposition publicly in Sacramento during hearings, and the room is full of folks who think we’re some kind of internet-deranged bigots for not wanting penises in our locker rooms or girls to have their healthy breasts removed. Going to DC really opened my eyes to how poorly we are treated in CA. It’s like I’ve become accustomed to being treated badly. I have to remember this is not ok. It’s not ok for lawmakers to ignore us, treat us poorly, and refuse to engage with us. This is an 80/20 issue. But until these legislators start paying the price for supporting boys in girls’ spaces, nothing will change. Every time I mount opposition to the next crazy bill, I know we may lose the battle, but I also know in my heart we will win the war. We cannot win if we do not fight.

Today is Harvey Milk Day, and what would have been Harvey’s 96th birthday. For six years, I had the deep honor of representing the district that Harvey previously represented on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Harvey is one of our community’s most important leaders, and his legacy only grows more powerful with time. Harvey fought for LGBTQ rights, for working people, for immigrants, for affordable housing, and for the simple but radical idea that everyone deserves dignity and a seat at the table. He paved the way for so many of the rights we enjoy today, he made space for LGBTQ people to run for and win elected office, and he permanently reminds us of the importance of giving hope to future generations. Harvey died for our community, but his work carries on. He inspired me and so many others to fight for justice and equity. On his birthday, we recommit to carrying that fight forward. Happy birthday, Harvey.

Ridership on major Bay Area transit systems continues to go up. When we make transit better — more reliable, safer, cleaner — more people ride. It’s why I’ve worked so hard to fund & reform our transit systems — including authoring the law allowing the upcoming regional funding measure — & why I’ll continue to do so in Congress.

This is exactly the part of the AOS debate getting missed. This isn't only about immigrants' rights. It's about US citizens too. Roughly 1 in 5 married couples in the US includes a spouse born abroad. That's not a fringe group, it's 21% of married couple households. When an American marries someone here lawfully on a visa, adjustment of status is how their spouse gets a green card without leaving the country. Take that away and you are telling US citizens their husband or wife has to leave the US to process a visa abroad. They spend months (and often years) apart, and there is no guarantee they are allowed back in. If there are US citizen kids, you are now separating them from a parent too. That's not just an immigrant problem. That's a US citizen losing the right to live in their own country with the family they built here, even though their spouse followed every rule.

Austin Metcalf, who was stabbed to death at a Frisco ISD track meet on April 2, was posthumously recognized at the Frisco ISD high school graduation. He received a STANDING OVATION!
