Ronaldo did nothing in the match against Croatia apart from scoring a penalty goal yet was given the man of the match, definitely man of the match is not only just by goal scoring and assisting in a game.

I’ve never in my 20 years of watching football see a player with zero G/A win a MOTM award over a player who just scored two goals and a player who made two assists and kept a clean sheet. This is new unseen unmatched levels of PR.

Remember that Senegal vs Iraq game we played 1.5 shots on target for Iraq?? Iraq still played decently after getting a red card early in the first half and even got one shot on target early in the second half, but immediately Pape Gueye was subbed on, he shut down the midfield and Iraq couldn’t play through anymore.
I was pissed at him for ruining my bet, but still applauded him as he dominated the midfield, scored 2 rocket goals and completely changed the tempo of the game for Senegal.
Now, if a random ball watcher like me can see the value of such a player on the field, why will a professional coach sub out that kind of player that dominates the midfield midway through the second half when leading 2-0 against a team like Belgium in the knockout stage of the World Cup???
Pape Thiaw really messed up his tactics and game management and should take full responsibility for that loss.

Instead of strengthening the squad, the coach weakened it by removing his best players and leaving his favorites who weren't performing.
