I’m an elder millennial. I’m never letting go of my emotional support denim jacket, gold hoop earrings, boomerang drink videos, 90s R&B, side parts, and peace signs in my pics. Fight me.

Attending some events really hits home that as women and young entrepreneurs in Africa, we're on our own. No one is coming to save us from; a lack of access to finance, expensive or unavailable logistics options, actually from ALL non tartif barriers.

A distressed sale at 0.4x the last valuation is not a data point that should be shaping anyone's view of what African startup exits look like. But it is, because nobody is sharing the real numbers behind these announcements.

Despite the challenges, I remain actively investing in early-stage technology businesses. But I’m intentional about two things: 1. Co-investing with the right partners I prefer working with investors who: - Take a long-term view - Add strategic value beyond capital - Understand the realities of African markets - Are comfortable operating in the early-stage risk zone 2. Seeing disciplined, execution-focused founders The types of opportunities I’m most interested in: - MVP built and in-market - Early revenue or strong traction signals - Solving real, local or regional problems - Clear path to sustainability (not just scale) I’m particularly interested in businesses operating in: - Financial services / fintech - Enterprise solutions - Infrastructure-enabling technology - Scalable service platforms If you’re: - A founder building in this space - Or an investor looking to syndicate I’m open to conversations. The opportunity in Africa is real—but success will come from better alignment, better execution, and better partnerships. #AngelInvestor #AfricaTech #CoInvesting #Startups #VentureCap

Africa has more entrepreneurs per capita than anywhere else in the world. It also has one of the lowest densities of large businesses globally. Of an estimated ~244 million businesses in Africa: 👤 94.8% are solo firms with 0 non-owner employees 👥 3.1% are micro-enterprises (1-4 employees) 📈 1.6% are small ventures (5-19 employees) 🏢 0.38% are medium ventures (20-100 employees) 🏭 0.05% are large businesses (100+ employees) In other words, 95% of businesses in Africa have zero hired employees. We celebrate entrepreneurship in Africa. And we should. But the vast majority today is survivalist or necessity-driven. People often talk about a "missing middle" in African business. But when 95% are solo operations, there's a missing everything else. What's clearly not missing: entrepreneurial energy. But converting that into jobs at scale requires an enabling environment. — Afridigest Intelligence — real intelligence & advisory to win in Africa's growth markets: afridigest.com/intelligence | Follow Afridigest on LinkedIn & Instagram

@VamboAI got in!🌟 The amount of hard work and sacrifice that has happened between this picture from 2023 and this @GoogleStartups milestone deserves its own book. Here’s to getting in! And after the 5th attempt because we keep trying until it works out🔥 I am so grateful.
