We safely evacuated over 100 people from Hope today. Our boats were also running from Mission to Chilliwack and back and Agassiz to Kilby and back. Amazing volunteer effort by FVAGA members #bcflood

Additionally, to be absolutely and unequivocally clear, the fires in west Kelowna, Kelowna and the RDCO started on Crown Land crushing dozens of homes backing onto Crown Land. The areas ‘treated’ by municipalities were roasted because the province has been absent for decades.

Impossible to improve land, water, air, forest, fish and wildlife management will simultaneously defunding it. Sorry, there’s no way to argue around this.

Critical funding provided by @HCTFBC for the important work we do on Juvenile Sturgeon. That funding comes from user license fees from the Sturgeon Conservation surcharge needed for fishing above mission bridge in the freshwater section.

Lack of information is hampering efforts to protect the Fraser River’s white sturgeon – so anglers are helping to tag and track their young. The Globe and Mail went out with fishing guide Kevin Estrada on the as he captured juvenile white sturgeon to tag and track.

I'm pleased to see this work finally being done to get an accurate figure on sturgeon populations in the Fraser River. In order to truly protect this ancient species, we must have accurate data. theglobeandmail.com/canada/british…

As we mark the 1 year anniversary of the B.C. flooding and mudslides, we will never forget the devastating impact that the unprecedented rains brought last year. We will also remember the spirit of unity and the sense of community that brought us together. #Chilliwack #HopeBC

During the #BCStorm, amazing flood relief efforts were provided by private citizens & organizations like @GuidesAssoc, who rushed into the flood waters to rescue stranded travellers by boat, deliver food, transport people to critical medical appts, & save sturgeon & salmon. [1/3]

@GuidesAssoc They sprang into action using their own resources, including their own boats, fuel, & time. They continued to help in the days & weeks that followed w/flood recovery, as they distributed flood clean up kits to impacted homes and monitored for stranded sturgeon and salmon. [2/3]

@GuidesAssoc At the Fisheries and Oceans Committee this week, I questioned government officials on when and how the Government of Canada plans to acknowledge and compensate them for their heroic efforts. #Chilliwack #HopeBC [3/3]
