What that means, is turbines are being paid to shut off, and gas switched on, because the grid can't cope. Additionally, Gas sets prices, which means renewables are making huge profits, which UK gov taxes...

@danishnuclear Things go wrong with nuclear power stations, with additional costs stretching what could be centuries into the future. Plus we can't assume dumping depleted uranium in "stoneage ME" countries is a sustainable habit. Now include that in your costs...

@danishnuclear The cost to install 200 15MW (3000MW) turbines is about $6B (upper end). Could get 1,000 (15GW) for same cost as a 1750MW Nuclear plant @ $30B. That's not including decommissioning / decontamination costs in the case of nuclear. Matched with hydro/battery storage, choice is obvs.
