Winter is upon us once more and the darkness swallows up the light. Something ancient, hungry and sinister stirs beneath a former British coal mining village. “Coal Face – The Devil in the smoke.” An industrial fairy tale. My illustrated supernatural fantasy book. Out now!

@GunnWriter I have an account over there but can't really get on with it. Will keep trying. I never had a follower count anyway, so that bit doesn't matter :) I just see more interesting stuff pop up here than there. Ditto Threads.

I have finally decided that I am out of here. No problem at all if you don’t transition or find me on 🦋 . I did enjoy my time here and consider a lot of you as good friends. I’ll keep this open and check in on some of you but I’ll not be tweeting for the foreseeable future.

Slowly setting up a new hangout. Not bothered by huge follower counts, just having fun quality chats with likeminded people is my jam. In case you are out there too. 🦋

Yes you can stream it from various sites, and I highly recommend it. But I love to buy and own media, especially the sorts of subjects that I cherish and love to have on my shelves. youtu.be/o-gzNAY6Y6E?si…

Some wonderful British films don’t get blu ray releases over here. I had to order a disc release of a film from Germany that celebrates British film as it has no UK disc. The Martin Scorsese documentary film “Made in England - The films of Powell & Pressburger.” The irony!

I think that I’ve gotten to the stage where I’m kind of bored of most social media.

@GunnWriter It’s clear that the game was developed with a lot of love from the team, and we players noticed it. Despite everything, would you have liked Sony to give you more time to include all the content that was left out of the final version?

Tidying up and found this old preview of “MediEvil” from PlayStation Magazine 1998. With comments on how we weren’t following current trends or fashions in game/visual design. That’s the key to enduring (cult) titles, you may never be super mainstream but you remain memorable. 💀

@TDTechnologist Probably an old bulls or they hadn’t played much. I remember Edge reviewing the final game and giving it a lukewarm review. In the following issue the editorial stated that they had played more and actually upped the review score stating it had great depth. 😕 But too late.

@Monishkolio 1 year was still a new concept. When we were working/developing on the game the original PS1 controllers had no proper analogue sticks as we know them today. Nintendo were well ahead in that department.

@GunnWriter Interesting. It seemed to me that analog control technology had already been available for almost 1 year, but my memory must be "playing tricks" on me!

@Monishkolio The analogue sticks had only just been developed so that was a big plus back then.

@GunnWriter Strange, if not a little disappointing, that they didn't include the atmosphere or the music among the positive points. Subtle analog controls - was that really an advantage back then? I know that "tank control" was common...

Plus, I never follow fashions! 😄 Sometimes this works in your favour with success, big budgets and awards. And at other times you take risks to do your best original creative work but are financially poor. It’s all in the creative risks.

Another reason why the games was so long in development (as stated) was that we were a tiny team constantly finding ways to fund/produce the game. Sony liked what they saw and bought the IP and studio which secured the next few years and allowed us to hone and polish the game.
