Premier League icon Alan Shearer says Arsenal could win the quadruple this season if they lift the EFL Cup. Speaking to Betfair, Shearer believes that if the North London side do lift the trophy, a quadruple is on the cards. “If Arsenal win the Carabao Cup, the quadruple is seriously on. And it's a big if because it's a huge game, a huge game for both clubs because this probably is City's last chance in terms of the silverware. “It's a huge game for both clubs but yeah, If Arsenal win this one, then the talk will intensify of winning four trophies, which clearly has never been done before. “It’ll be a highly charged game. There'll be plenty of excitement. There'll be a bit of bite in the game as well because of obvious reasons. But I'm really looking forward to the game.”

If the president is gagged by law, ethics, or any other considerations from insulting anyone, then it is only fair that the same factors insulate him from being insulted as well. It cannot be that he is buried under a barrage of insults daily but the moment he opens his mouth to respond, everyone rises to condemn him, yet those condemning voices were as quiet as a dead man’s buttocks while he was being insulted. If you tie someone’s hands so that he cannot throw punches to defend himself, then it is only fair that you also protect him from being attacked. In a nutshell, those lamenting that he is returning fire with fire ought to have begun by reprimanding those who have been insulting him daily, in every forum. Meanwhile, it is also possible that it is only considered wrong because it is Ruto. Jomo Kenyatta, the man credited with inventing corruption, nepotism, land grabbing, and political assassinations, used to insult Kenyans with “Kum* ya mama zenu.” He once asked musician Joseph Kamaru to be brought to him at his Gatundu home. He then ordered a nyahunyo and worked on him thoroughly. Mwai, the gukaa who looted an election and who was sworn in at midnight by his wife, could not resist telling Kenyans they were “mavi ya kuku” whenever he faced a microphone. He'd then pose, pop his eyes to scan around, then add a "pumbavu". Daniel arap Moi did not insult people as much. Instead, he , but abducted, brought them into Nyayo House torture chambers, then sent thatncop known as Opiyo to work on their hairy tennis balls with a shinny burdizo. Opiyo is currently in his retirement in Ranen. He is running away and hidding from everyone. Even Rayila told someone "ifuo ka meru". In a nutshell, churches and other moral voices ought to have started by calling out those attacking the president. The currency of opposition politics in Kenya this season has been hatered and insults. Otherwise, when separating two fighting men, you do not hold the hands of only one. You disarm them all. Wapi wanamgambo?

OPINION: For the first time in my life, I felt genuinely embarrassed watching the evening news with my children—my daughter Wangechi, 21, and my son, Lord Byron, 13. And for the first time, I found myself angry with my President, not as a political observer, but as a parent. Listening to the President, especially the part where he ranted on and on about how an unnamed political opponent had impregnated a girl “his daughter’s age” and killed the baby, was jarring. It was not just political; it was deeply personal, crude, and wholly inappropriate for a national platform. As a parent seated next to a girl the same age as the one invoked in that statement, I felt a line had been crossed. This was no longer about politics; it was about dignity, values, and the example set before impressionable minds. ow.ly/g8pv50YwOeg

Ruto amekanyaga mpaka bedroom mahali watu hawakuweza kukanyaga. Ruto alimfanyia Mheshimiwa Raila Odinga guard of honour, imagine Raila analala halafu anafanyiwa salute. Na mnasema Wajaluo watoke kwa Ruto? Watoke kwa Ruto waende kwa mama zenu?" ~ Kimbi kimbi

President Ruto, Youth leader Oburu Odinga, PS Dr. Raymond Omollo has just finished a very long consultative meeting with leaders from the greater Nyanza region at the Kisumu State Lodge. This comes before the president starts another weeklong development tour in the region. An interesting thing is that James Orengo is conspicuously missing. After the grand opening of the SGR Kisumu- Malaba construction tomorrow, an event that will be graced by President Museveni, Rais Mchapa Kazi, will kick off the tour of the Luo Nyanza tour. The President will commission a blue economy project at Asat Beach in Seme sub-county, then launch a road project in Kisumu West sub-county as well as an affordable housing project in Yala, Gem sub-county On Sunday, President Ruto will visit Homa Bay County, where he is expected to attend an interdenominational prayer in Kasipul, inspect works at the Adiedo-Karabok road in Karachuonyo and later commission Rusinga ring roads projects in Suba North. On the same day, the Head of State will inspect ongoing works at the Mamboleo-Chemelil-Kipsitet road, which is key to connecting the counties of Kisumu, Nandi and Kericho and is expected to boost trade and sugarcane farming, which is a mainstay for most locals. He will continue his tour of projects on Monday, where he will tour projects in Kuria East, Kuria West, Ndhiwa, and Uriri constituencies of Migori County. The President Ruto will wind up his tour of the region on Tuesday by commissioning two projects in Siaya County including the groundbreaking of the Usenge pier by Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and later an affordable housing project in Nyatike, Migori county. With Orengo intentionally keeping off, maybe it is time the MCAs in Siaya send him to join Rigathi in making noise and allow his Deputy William Oduol to complete the rest of the term.

From Robert Alai Uhuru Kenyatta, through his newfound toy, The Standard, finds it odd that Ruto can take development to Kisumu. They don't see the economic sense because they are using some Onagi journalists to further the ethnic narratives. But this was done by Ndungu Gachane and Macharia Kamau. These are not journalists anymore. We mustn't be afraid of calling out such. The Standard Newspaper MUST be treated as a hostile, biased media player everywhere. This is not objective journalism. This is an economic war on people and verbal violence on Ruto's govt. We must stop treating this as journalism. Lines MUST be drawn. Awacho!

For the first time in nearly 40 years of my political career, I am supporting a sitting president, and I have a good reason for that. He once broke the fast with us in Mombasa and mashallah. This is now the second time we are having iftar together at State House. Previous presidents, Jomo Kenyatta, Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru, never did this. This is something new that he has brought to us.” ~ Farah Maalim

Any politician banking on 'Genzs' will see with his mouth when the IEBC will start announcing the results of the 2027 general elections; there's no voting constituency called genz. A genz in Kisumu belongs to the ODM Party. A genz in Kakamega supports the UDA/ODM Party. A genz in Embu belongs to the UDA Party. A genz in Mombasa is an ODM genz. A genz in Garrisa is an UDA genz. A genz in Narok is an ODM/UDA genz. A genz in Kiambu is a UDA/DCP/Jubilee genz. A genz in Kitui is waiting to see if Kalonzo Musyoka will be the United Opposition flagbearer. A genz in Eldoret supports the UDA Party. A genz in Nairobi is 60% broadbased.

Today is the day a new kid will be born. The mother is currently in labour. The total will be a 369 km Standard Gauge Railway line connecting Naivasha to Malaba. Nanii, the former president, the man whose father invented corruption, left it at Naivasha because that is where his interests end. Kenya does not exist beyond that point, at least according to his actions. This yet-to-be-born SGR will connect Naivasha with Malaba via Kisumu. It will significantly open the country's hinterland for a smooth flow of the economy. When an Onyango is a little broke, he will travel by bus to the city. When he has kakitu, he will fly there. Now he has a choice of an adventurous train journey to the destination as well. A friend once told me he first met his wife on a train while travelling to Nairobi in the 1970s. A Wanjala from Western Kenya has now also been afforded an extended hunting ground for a wife through the SGR. Nani kama William?

Ruto has been persistent with his support for Oburu Oginga until now what seemed and impossible leadership has now stabilised the party. One thing about Ruto is that you can trust he would stick by you to the very end, even if it his to his own detriment.

Kenyan officers who served in Haiti are finally back home and being hailed as heroes. Raymond Omollo praised the officers for their courage and professionalism after serving in one of the world’s most dangerous environments under the Multinational Security Support mission. But behind the celebration, many are asking deeper questions. What did these officers really face on the ground, and was Kenya right to send them into such a high-risk mission? Are they heroes who made the nation proud, or did they carry too much risk for a foreign assignment? Full story in the comments.
