@AGretz @KyleCryptoLand go look at the rays pen and how they’re used. and then tell me the manager doesn’t make a difference. you’re just failing to see the point of what a good manager can do and how it effects the pen the most
English

@Gunnerw46 @KyleCryptoLand I mean, they've pretty clearly demonstrated they can't.
English

@AGretz @KyleCryptoLand Are you implying that this bullpen can’t get 3 outs while up 3 in any order…?
English

@Gunnerw46 @KyleCryptoLand There's no rearranging of these deck chairs that's going to fix these guys.
English

@KyleCryptoLand @AGretz Brother ur talking about him doing his job… to manage the game lol. Cherrington obviously failed as he has plenty of 7 years.
But well coached teams don’t blow 10 saves by May 15th. Pitchers need to pitch better, manager needs to do a better job picking his spots
English

@Gunnerw46 @AGretz That’s the point - it’s on the GM. Build a freaking full roster!!!
Forcing a manger to play 3D chess in order to win a game in which you are up by 3 in the 9th is never going to be a winning strategy.
English

@NorthShoreNine Pitchers need to pitch better. Manager needs to put pitchers in better situations to succeed. Both are true
Having soto face 3/4 righties to start the 9th wasn’t a good call. Then he’s 25 pitches in facing to Schwarbs and Harper
Santana facing only LHs in 10 is also an issue
English

@KyleCryptoLand @AGretz Hey Kyle… they don’t have a closer!!!! So when you don’t have a shutdown closer who can shorten the game. You have to piece together outs. You have to be ultra good at putting your players in the best chance to succeed and Kelly doesn’t do that
English

@Gunnerw46 @AGretz Dude they were up by 3 in the 9th
You shouldn’t have to “manage” your way to victory when you are up by 3 IN THE 9TH
You should just be able to send out your closer to, you know, CLOSE THE FUCKING GAME
English

@EvanSiskHater @AGretz no i don’t trust either lol but i would’ve trusted Santana more against Garcia and turner then soto.
And i would’ve trusted a fresh Soto against Scharbs and Harper more then Soto after 30 pitches
English

@Gunnerw46 @AGretz Do you genuinely trust Santana to get an out tho. He couldn’t get me to swing in miss. They’re in a horrible spot with the righties in the pen. Get some guys who can chuck up and see if something sticks. That’s the spot they’re in
English

Santana? SANTANA? The guy that couldn't get a fucking out when he did come in?
Look, if you can't trust your closer to get three outs in an 8-5 game then what the holy fuck are we doing here.
Gunner Womer@Gunnerw46
@AGretz 3 of the first 4 hitters due up in the 9th were RH, Adolis has an OPS over .200 points better against LHPs and turner is a career .300 hitter against LHPs. Should’ve thrown Santana and as soon as Schwarber came up and gone to a fresh soto
English

@rounder829 we don’t have a closer, gotta play the matchups. Donnie doesn’t do that. hence this keeps happening over and over again
English

@BloopAndABlast well it’s a trend, and he has to work with what he has. Ofc the games on Soto and the pen. They themselves gave it up. But they aren’t being used properly so the guy who puts them in those situations should shelter the blame
English

@Gunnerw46 It’s always easier to blame the manager in these situations cuz it feels much easier to blame just one guy that could potentially easily be “fixed” than it is to admit the players on the field aren’t good enough.
English

lol a game in which the Pirates had multiple big leads and used only their 2 best bullpen arms in the first 9 innings and this is the kind of stuff in my mentions.
Gunner Womer@Gunnerw46
@BloopAndABlast it’s what happens when you have the worst manager in the league
English

@BloopAndABlast Well maybe we don’t even get to the lefties if a righty starts on the mound in the 9th. Or maybe a fresh soto gets the lefties in a situation that isn’t bases loaded after throwing 25 pitches. all i know is they for sure weren’t in the best position to succeed
English

@Gunnerw46 Well Soto didn’t get the lefties out either. Complain about the manager all you want, I generally don’t care but the players also aren’t good enough
English

@BloopAndABlast but they aren’t being put in the best positions to succeed. Santana should never throw in an inning with 4 lefties due up. Soto shouldn’t never throw in an inning with 3 righties due up. It’s backwards. Go look at the Rays, when you don’t have a lockdown closer you play matchups
English

@Gunnerw46 I don’t even like Kelly but it’s impossible to manage a bullpen with no trustworthy arms.
English

@BloopAndABlast hard to be a major league manager when you ignore matchup numbers that are right in front of you, especially when you don’t have an actual closer on the roster
English

@Gunnerw46 Hard to be a major league pitcher if you can only get certain hitters out.
English

@AGretz 3 of the first 4 hitters due up in the 9th were RH, Adolis has an OPS over .200 points better against LHPs and turner is a career .300 hitter against LHPs. Should’ve thrown Santana and as soon as Schwarber came up and gone to a fresh soto
English

@BloopAndABlast maybe that’s because he came in against 4 lefties instead of playing the number….
English

@Gunnerw46 Idk if you noticed by Santana pitched in this game and didn’t record an out
English

@BloopAndABlast any other inning a righty starts out on the mound. Instead you gave Adolis an ab against a lefty (.780 ops compared to a righty .570) and turner who was 0-3 against a righty tonight (.300 career hitter against lefties). Bucs don’t have an actual closer, gotta play matchups
English

@BloopAndABlast brother you had 3/4 righties due up there… santana should’ve started that inning and as soon as Schwarber came up gone to a fresh Soto. That’s just poor coaching
English

@BloopAndABlast it’s what happens when you have the worst manager in the league
English

@StephTuittRules @SteelCityBucs30 3.86 era in 9th last year
43 era in 9th this year
0.36 era in 8th last year
0.00 era in 8th this year
He’s for sure better as a set up than in the 9th
English

@SteelCityBucs30 Ha. He's great at getting outs that aren't the final outs of the game. Sooner or later we're gonna need to find someone who's built to get those other outs. Of course that assumes we're serious about October.
