this right here is a perfect explanation of why I haven't been enamored by a lot of rockstar's titles. GTA 6 needs to really innovate on its mission design for me to really be excited for it.
MrKelsGame@MrkelsGame

The way this guy analyzed Rockstar Mission Design needs to be studied… “open world but linear mission design with no real freedom” I think there’s a point here and hopefully GTAVI brings a lot of changes when it comes to missions… any thoughts? 🤔

I've never seen anyone say that nonsense about needing 100h to have fun. This game is literally the opposite + it's not what the Wizard said in your QR. This game's fun is in exploration, discovery, engaging with the world, etc. It's there from the start. After a certain time, you're very likely going to hit a peak where you've DONE a lot, DISCOVERED a lot, EXPERIMENTED with just about all there was to experiment, and so now that "grip" the game has that keeps people going almost from curiosity alone, will be gone. And since the narrative is bland/uninteresting, there won't be anything to maintain that "High". Some quests will be fun, others not so much, at the end of the day, the point is usually in other games you have a bland slog of an open world to get through in order to get to *THE CONTENT*. In Crimson Desert the open world IS the content, and the stuff you get to, like the "boring quests for 100h" are the slog. At least, that's my prediction for how my time with this game will go. Similar to Dragon's Dogma 2. Dozens of hours of pure unfiltered fun exploring, fighting beasts, crafting cool shit, discovering new places, etc. Then, a big slowdown. I've done a lot, I've seen most of it, I maxed all the combat styles, and without gripping narratives in sidequests or the main plot to excite me, I eventually eased out of it and to this day I haven't seen the credits.

Ouch 😬 Seems like Crimson Desert and Marathon have one thing (and only one thing) in common: The glazers saying "You gotta play for 100 hours and then it'll be fun, trust me bro" (not saying Fake Wizard is a glazer, appreciate his honest takes)

Dear Crimson Desert Defense Force, If your goal is to introduce more people to the game you love; insulting the intelligence of every persons whose tolerance for poor game design isn’t as high as yours isn’t the solution. I promise you you’re doing more harm to Pearl Abyss & the perception of your community than good 🤣
BRATOR@imbratorX

Yellow paint gamers be like: Pearl Abyss! Where do I go? Bad game. 🤡🤡🤡 This is a quest where you have to find out what happened to some farmer's cows. Count with me how many helpers there are on screen. Literally 6 helpers on screen pointing the way. Somehow not enough.

@BeardsonBeardly I don't think it was AI Generated, I think it's just a byproduct of how it was an MMORPG until a month before release.

Ok now apologize for the AI generated quests and writing
Crimson Desert@CrimsonDesert_

We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert. During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction. Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it. We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency. We sincerely apologize for these oversights. We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.

I liked RDR2 as much as the other guy, but goddamn are Rockstar fanboys insufferable with this shit. Games are allowed to have their style choices. Get over it. Go play RDR2 and stop bitching at everyone about how nothing compares for y'all at every game release.

@xShephardx This is the last bastion for the haters. "Okay it's fun and looks great and runs great, but they used a tool in the creation that I have deemed a bad tool, so it still sucks"

@xShephardx Despite how unfinished the game it is (which I was a hater of), DD2 still was created by a visionary creator and a very competent team CD is a bunch of nothingness mashed together by someone who knows shi about game design. I and many people saw that coming miles away

The greatest trick the Crimson Desert devs ever pulled was muddying the waters enough to make many people not recognise that this is just a Singleplayer MMO game, not TOTK, BOTW or RDR2. This has gotten more people to play it and also made many of those people very angry.
Gene Park@GenePark

It has been frustrating seeing streamers who have never touched an MMO struggle with Crimson Desert. They get mad about nothing quests like “get two pieces of wood for blacksmith” when that’s very standard. I never had an issue with the quest design. It’s the controls i beef with

Also, I don’t know what style of “acting” it is every NPC seems to embody, but it’s got the energy of a cocaine addict grasping for bedposts during an earthquake. No one stops moving, ever. They’re just wiggling around everywhere.
Adam Deats 🌕@AdamDeats

I’m 11 hours into Crimson Desert and it just introduced its second playable character with nearly zero context or fanfare. She’s just here now. This game’s story is practically back-to-back non sequiturs. Nothing can prepare you for how bad it is.
