@NathanNufc @paulthomase @BackPageShop Well, the biggest thing either of us have won is the league, and we've won it more. So yeah, it's worth bragging about. More than a bloody carabao cup. What other rivalry has the "smaller" club got more league titles, can't be many

Ahead of derby day, we thought we'd pay tribute to both clubs' most recent trophy wins at Wembley. So as well as our NUFC 2025 Carabao Cup Winners window display, it's only fair we also salute the Mackems' epic 2021 Papa John Pizza Box win (aka the 3rd & 4th Division Cup)🏆🍕

@MagpieMediaX Fuck sake, that's dreadful TBF. And why would you do it just days before the derby? Anything for views and engagement, sadly

@GeordieKermit9 And why did Newcastle support the king? Ah yes, because you were given the exclusive coal trading rights which led to extreme poverty in Sunderland. If anyone betrayed anyone, it was the royals betraying Sunderland. Complicated situation but no way Newcastle are the "good" guys

1600s Tynesiders fought for their King (George) and became known as Georgie’s men (Geordies) Wearsiders fought against our king and were forever “cast a sunder” in a new town called Sunderland #SAFC you betrayed your king and country Come on #NUFC let’s smash these bastards

@GeordieKermit9 The civil war has fuck all to do with why Sunderland is called Sunderland. It was "sundered" by the river, hence a fishing village on the river mouth being called Soender-land in 1100AD. It was officially called Sunderland before the civil war began

@cfcjoe1888__ Never understand why Leeds are so high in these lists. 3 top flight titles, 1 fa cup. Sunderland have twice as many of both, and higher crowds in the third tier. These lists always put villa and Everton far too low. Same with rangers and Celtic, always too low on these

@shezlufc like 12th probably. slightly bigger than sunderland, on a par with newcastle. maybe a touch smaller than forest due to the european cups but that’s debatable

@Capt_Fishpaste I'm not sure how that's different from what a branch does? In fact they were set up as a branch via the club. They buy tickets together so he can get them huge discounts on train travel. I don't really see what he's done wrong. Although admittedly we don't have all the facts

@GuzzlerSAFC Completely get what you're saying, but for me it's the people who have created their own redistribution network who are the ones who need to be sanctioned. They are the ones causing the problem.

I know a lot of people who let someone else use their customer number to buy an away ticket that someone else then uses. It's shit because people who have been to away games regularly (albeit on someone else's number) will now be shut out as they haven't accrued their own loyalty points. On the other hand, plenty of other fans who want to do away games have been shut out for years by people abusing the system. It's a bad situation with no easy solutions, but it's been created by those abusing the system by creating their own distribution networks, not the club. #SAFC
SAFC FANS REACT@safcfansreact

Surprised 2NOT see some of our more vocal fans groups commenting on 65 fans (people with hi-loyalty points) having their Newcastle tickets removed for a spurious reason the club cant properly explain. This ISNT ‘connecting with our fans’, its utter contempt for them & it stinks

@Capt_Fishpaste I'd have thought sanctioning the people whose membership numbers failed the ID checks, and then enhanced checks on that group at the next feasible away game. What they've done sounds, from what we've heard, like people considered guilty by association.

@Capt_Fishpaste But in this specific case, 65 tickets have been cancelled and a lot of those people go every week, on their own ticket with their own loyalty points and have had their tickets to the derby cancelled because a few others in the group failed ID checks. That can't be right

I'm not so sure really. I know more than one person who has not been to an away game for years, but they get a BCP every away game as someone else uses their number, buys a ticket, and sells it on to someone else (without the points) in their own private group. I feel for those fans who have been putting in the hard miles whilst someone else gets the point. It's shot for them. That's why I'm more inclined to point the finger at those running these ticket groups, even though their intentions are good.

@LucasGert_ @c0rnedbeefpasty I mean, it objectively isn't though. We're safe, we've won a derby. It's a big game but I'm a hell of a lot less worried about it than normal. Worst case is 3 points each, you finish above us, we stay up. Would have 100% taken that at the start of the season

@robert_croxford @past_sunderland No there's no such rule. My dad's parents died when I was very young so I rarely visited Newcastle. My mam's lived a lot longer so I went there a lot. Her dad and my uncles made sure I went to Roker. Does make derby day interesting mind, my dad didn't support my decision 😂

@robert_croxford @past_sunderland The accents are different. When people live here, they can tell the difference. But they're not so different that people from elsewhere can distinguish Geordie from Mackem, all just sounds NE to them

@robert_croxford @past_sunderland Someone else posted it recently. And, outside the region, no one can tell the difference. I've got a mackem mam and a Geordie dad (Arthur's hill, middle of Newcastle) with strong accents. I was brought up outside the region, no one knew they were from different cities

@StevenHalford2 @LewisAR27 @nufcpb @GianfrancoShoIa We've beaten Newcastle though. But yes, some fans will see it as the be all and end all. For most, a win over Newcastle and survival this season is already much better than we had hoped for. So of course this is nothing like as big as a play off semi final

@kadcfcoutlookc1 Saying Blackburn v Burnley isn't big because people other than their fans don't care. Mental reasoning. I'm not arsed who wins it, but I know it's a massive rivalry and a good derby. I don't care who wins most derbies other than ours, can still recognise when they're big

@LewisAR27 @StevenHalford2 @nufcpb @GianfrancoShoIa I'd expect them to want to beat Barca more mind. But equally it's nothing like our biggest away game in a decade. We're safe, we've beaten them once already. It's bragging rights and nowt more. Coventry away in the playoffs last year was 10x bigger than this for starters

@StevenHalford2 @nufcpb @GianfrancoShoIa You know full well you'd rather Newcastle beat Sunderland on Sunday, it's not just another derby is it, a defeat would be humiliating because it's Sunderland's first season back up and we'd do the double over you, banter aside be honest.

@bushontheradio Yes, but I often wait a stop. I'll sit next to them so they don't think I'm being rude/ think they smell. When the next stop is near I get up and walk away from them. They think I'm just getting off the train. Then I find another seat in a different coach.

Surely the rule is: If you sit next to someone on a train because it's busy, when the carriage empties out, you don't stay sat next to them like you're two pensioners on a day trip, you move. Right?

@whdan1895 @secondtierpod Got an assist in each of the play off semi final games, as well as a vital touch in the play off final when he moved it quickly on to Roberts who got an assist for Mayenda. Before then it was hit and miss, but often because he was doubled up on which gave space to others

@anon_opin If I'm with a friend I haven't seen in months, and we've got a few hours to catch up, I'm not going to waste a lot of it by one of us queuing when we can just order on an app with we're nearly finished a drink and have the next one brought to us.

In a pub, ordering drinks to table via app should be an absolute last resort, eg if the bar is heaving or you're alone and can't leave your stuff unattended. Go to the bar. Can't stand groups of entitled lads in Spoons making the poor bar staff carry tray after tray of Stellas.
