As our nation celebrates Independence Day and approaches the 10th anniversary of the country’s arbitration victory affirming our sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), China continues to demonstrate how unreasonable and deceptive it can be toward the Philippines and its critics.

This includes declaring persona non grata any embassy spokesperson or other foreign diplomat engaged in improper conduct. However, this was ignored.

In a statement on Thursday, June 11, China's foreign ministry said Teodoro has repeatedly made comments that "[undermine] China’s legitimate interests and [sabotage] China-Philippines relations."
