@RichsWrath More likely it was the women of G2 who “had to walk on eggshells”

@RichsWrath When I dealt with sexism in esports, Carlos often made overly grand stmts about his enormous respect for women. I learned quickly he was very skillful in saying what people wanted to hear. I knew then he was a misogynistic sexist fraud & he continues to prove me right.

In the past year Carlos has: - Stated Women don't deserve the Vote & spammed sexist rhetoric. - Repeatedly re-posted provably fake science. - Repeatedly used the N-word & constantly pushes anti-Semitism. - Started and rugged pulled a Crypto coin with 0 utility. It's time to accept he wasn't just fired for "posting a video with Andrew Tate". He was fired because he's held a bunch of outrageous views for a long time, which was known to G2 and they cut the cord as soon as it became potentially damaging.

@jfudge @AlbanDechelotte For context, when comparing G LOL GMBH to Fnatic’s GMBH sub ( formed in 2016), Fnatic posted profits of apprx €180k through 2022 (including a full year of employment taxes in 2017).

Quite entertaining to read multiple "financial analysts" G2 has 3 entities GH, GL & G USA, only 1 of them releases financial report publicly while not consolidating results of the other 2 entities. Still happy to celebrate that G2 has been audited EBITDA profitable in 21 & 22

@jfudge @AlbanDechelotte G LOL GMBH was formed May 2017. The cumm profit for 5.5 yrs thru 2022 was apprx €100k. Published FS are abbreviated w limited info. Consolidating this sub for any one yr would not materially changed GH’s losses.

@AlbanDechelotte Referring to “audited EBITDA”can be misleading. Auditors opine on FS as a whole & not EBITDA. If ur metric is EBITDA, then can you pls clarify per the FS how G2 is “EBITDA profitable in 21 & 22”. Is this consolidated G2 with all 3 entities & have all 3 entities been audited?

H2K was one of the few who never drank the kool aid, spoke publicly about the esports hype re esport investment & were pummeled for it. Game publishers were & are the winners. Happy another Org CEO is honest about it. 👏
Jacob Wolf 🐝@JacobWolf

Props to @benspoont for this quote in @nytimes about the 'meteoric' expectations set by the franchised esports leagues vs. the financial reality the ownership groups are feeling now. One of the few owners I've seen not pedal bullshit in public. nytimes.com/2022/11/26/bus…

@RichsWrath G2’s global biz plan is dead w millions lost. Mgmt let their investors down. IMO w trust lost, many of G2s investors will want to exit w a sale vs invest more or raise more € w a damaged valuation in a tough cap mkt. Restructuring & layoffs likely. High risk job for any new CEO

It's definitely achievable but let's not pretend that its business as usual. The next year is massive for G2. A fantastic opportunity for a new CEO to show that a different style can bring success. For the love of God don't try and bring someone in to cosplay Carlos.

Everyone from G2 coming out and saying "We're still G2 and we'll do what we've always done!". With all due respect, no. Carlos was the essence of G2 for better & worse and ur now in a battle to not become 'just another org'. It will take a titanic effort to keep G2 on top.

@McGuiganGolfer @karonmoser 1st, very sad for Carlos. Yet IMO it was inevitable. It didn’t need to end this way. IMO 1 example: the LEC Orgs & Riot ignored the issue of poaching. Carlos’ MO was defiance & a meme mocking the claim. If RIOT & LEC Orgs dealt w the claims, the situation would be different.

When incidents like what happened with Carlos and G2 occur, it usually isn't because of one tweet or one event Usually the tweet arises and comes to the surface as a result of a pattern of behavior I don't think the moral of this story should be "one mistake can cost you"

Carlos’ achievements are to be celebrated. Yet there were also some bad behaviors & biz practices tolerated by vested parties ie G2, other Orgs & Riot. While his mistakes are his to own, sad that people enabled rather than mentor. The outcome may have been different if they did.
Rich@RichsWrath

2019 G2 was the best team in the world & was built split on split by Carlos. Overhauling Fnatic as THE team in EU was also down to Carlos. Criticize the bad, and he's been held accountable but don't forget how ludicrous those achievements are.

@RichsWrath Agree. It’s not simple at all. Carlos = G2 brand. The LEC is dependent on his brand. The negative spotlight pulls everyone into the mess: G2’s investors, future investors, LEC Org partners, sponsors, players, staff & Riot. Yikes!

I find G2 suspending Carlos strange for one reason. How does he come back? Presumably he won't randomly return to work. They will want a public apology. Carlos is a very proud guy who probably meant what he said. This may not be as simple as people might think.

Agree. This Misfits deal has investors paying insane money for 1 spot, as another LEC Org, Roque recently disclosed a significant write down of their LEC investment(which happens when mgmt concludes an asset isn’t holding its value). Two views of the same asset. Just crazy.
Rich@RichsWrath

€37mill for an LEC slot is just flat out terrible business no matter how u spin it. I guarantee u that BDS would get a refund and leave if they could. Teams should try to sell ASAP while the naive are still willing to buy.

@RichsWrath For more context: Stood up to Riot = H2K lost the right to negotiate with Riot & other Orgs for the right NOT to overpay for a slot. Happy we stood up.

As CEO & owner of H2K, I was told over & over that I had to kiss the rings of Regi &Jack to be accepted & for H2K to succeed. The investigation of Regi doesn’t surprise me one bit & there are others that should be investigated as well. @RichsWrath knows all of this all too well.

Current and former employees and esports pros have accused TSM’s founder and CEO, Andy Dinh, of verbally abusing and bullying them. Riot Games launched an investigation late last year into Dinh’s behavior. wired.trib.al/lVDVtO2

This is really important. Players should know who their agent reps to ensure that potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed. And that players know their agent is operating in their best interest and not others.
Rich@RichsWrath

A huge issue with agencies in esports is that they have inherent conflicts of interest by simply signing as many clients as possible, all competing for the same goals I am working closely with a London based legal firm to make sure @TheBlackLodgeGG is as COI free as possible 3/3

@H2KRich Agree assuming he had a good lawyer who protected his contractual rights. If that’s the case, Perkz is likely in the power position for lots of reasons.

1, not like this was his first ever esports contract. 2, termination and release clauses are pretty much the very first thing you check. Not like you could accidently miss such a clause. 3, most likely he took the hit on the clause for other benefits. This shit isn't binary.

If Perkz buyout is 5 million, that clause didn't MAGICALLY appear there. YOU are responsible for the contracts that YOU sign as an adult. At best u can blame the agent if there was one involved. But spare me with the sympathy train. It's a sad but not a sympathetic situation.

@CarlosR @VeteranEU @FNATIC Your saying the 10 LEC Orgs w their brands, investors & sponsors had no influence to Kill the deal? Zero power over something so bad? Turning the $ down now just isn’t enough. Next question, who brought this deal to Riot & who else benefited financially? Follow the $.

We discussed this on stream, but since I'm not seeing it discussed here: the organisations/teams could have veto'd this. They didn't.
