Mhmm. They almost rejected me at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School on the enrollment. But I made it. On one condition that I don't wear hearing aids in the class. Stayed there for five years (yes, I skipped to 7th grade during the five years). And that was the peak of my ASL fluency. But I've never applied for Gallaudet University though. George Mason University was my one to go to. So I don't know what it feels like to be rejected. One exception: the more I interact with them later in life, the more they see me as outsider. The kid who disappeared from their world to public schools in Northern Virginia with full time access to interpreters. Anywhoo, our lives are definitely different in that respect.

Universities don't always accept everyone's application. I get that. The only one to reject me was Gallaudet University. Literally, it's the only liberal arts university in the world for the deaf. Talk about rejection.
