The simplicity of the gospel is missed by many. The gospel being the death for our sins, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is not disputed. However our response to the gospel is heavily disputed. Some will say it’s some combination of faith and works/sacrament etc. Faith is taking God at His Word. So when He says whosoever believes on me shall not perish but have everlasting life. This is what faith looks like in the context of all this: Do you believe that Jesus died in your place, satisfying God’s wrath and justice concerning your sins? Now do you believe if you asked Jesus to forgive you, do you believe He would? Then here is the promise of God, let faith take hold: Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. You have not because you ask not. If you believe, ask it of Him!

I’m starting to read the Bible and I’m using Erika Kirk’s app to read it in a year. I want to use an actual Bible, too. The only Bible I have is a KJV. Bible readers, what is an easier version to read, but one that still feels…..sacred, I guess? If that makes sense.
