And at this moment in history—when core democratic principles seem to be continuously under attack, when too many people around the world have become cynical and disengaged—now is precisely the time to ask ourselves tough questions about how we can build our democracies and make them work in meaningful and practical ways for ordinary people.

3: Barring states from regulating AI, carrying implications like helping real estate companies and landlords hike up rents across the country.

@ewarren What is the law? The one in your head or the one your own Congress has passed and you fail to reform. Government officials should not be harassed for enforcing the laws you put in writing and are currently on the books.

4: Stopping courts from holding Trump officials in contempt for ignoring court orders, gutting their ability to ensure Trump follows the law. Everyone needs to be sounding the alarm on these sneaky additions to the spending bill. I am not going to let them get away with this.

I have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles county and return them to my command. We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed. Rescind the order. Return control to California.
