The Legal Centre for Palestine
Last week, Israel’s Military Advocate General announced that charges were dropped against 5 soldiers caught on video perpetrating one of the most high-profile incidents of torture and sexual abuse of a Palestinian held in Israel’s prisons. The horrific actions of these soldiers left the victim, a man taken from Gaza, hospitalized and in need of surgery. Facing International Court of Justice proceedings, Israel has repeatedly claimed that it has its own mechanisms for ensuring accountability for breaches of international law. While torture, neglect, and abuse of Palestinians are systemic in Israel’s prisons and detention centers, this particular case makes it excruciatingly clear that impunity is embedded in the system and enforced at every turn. The Canadian government’s notion of Israel as a democratic partner with shared values must end. The evidence to the contrary is overwhelming. Now is the time for Canada to join international legal efforts to ensure accountability and justice.

We all watched parents collect the remains of their children in plastic bags, xrays of bullets lodged in the skulls of children, starved aidseekers mowed down by machine gun fire, EVERYDAY FOR TWO YEARS. The whole world witnessed this GENOCIDE you sick twisted bastards, and your denialism is shameful and telling.
American Jewish Committee@AJCGlobal

Mayor Mamdani’s repeated use of the “genocide” accusation against Israel is not just wrong - it’s dangerous. It distorts reality and fuels antisemitism at a moment when Jews are already under threat.

Leaders who claim to stand for human rights should not use rhetoric that puts Jewish communities at risk. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry…

If you say you hate the Iranian government, nobody accuses you of hating the Iranian people. But if you hate the Israeli government, somehow you’re accused of hating all Jews everywhere. How does that work? 🤔

In Gaza they say the hospitals are Hamas and the paramedics are Hamas and the schools are Hamas and the food trucks are Hamas and the UN relief workers are Hamas and the journalists are Hamas.... In Lebanon they say the paramedics are Hezbollah and... We've seen this playbook.

That is a bad strike three call on Juan Soto in the eighth inning. Shouldn’t happen period. Absolutely cannot happen in a game like this.

A couple of years ago in London, Ontario, a guy driving a pickup saw a Muslim family and purposely jumped the curb, killing a 15 year old girl, both of her parents, and her grandmother. Her 9 year old brother survived No such security funding was granted to the Muslim community.

Jewish Canadians, like all Canadians, should never have to their that they are under attack in places of worship, schools, or community spaces. In response to the recent rise in hate-motivated incidents in Toronto and across the country, our government is investing up to $10 million through the Canada Community Security Program (CCSP) to help Jewish institutions strengthen security at gathering spaces such as schools, daycares, camps, and places of worship. We also are pressing to pass our Combatting Hate Legislation which will protect all religions and people in their places of worship. We will continue working closely with community leaders and law enforcement to confront antisemitism and keep Canadians safe, and make sure the perpetrators are speedily brought to justice.

Mosques in Canada have been attacked so many times, once with 6 worshippers killed and never did the government earmark public funds to ONLY the Muslim community.
