"Retired" is an interesting concept, with many definitions. I think they can still make additional income from their passions to supplement the draw down of the 1.8 million. That's not a lot of retirement money (to me it wouldn't be enough), BUT depends on where they live, lifestyle, etc.

@SteveOnSpeed I think never allowing yourself to be in a situation where you would want to tell your boss that would be the ultimate act of self care. And I would argue that you will never have "F-you" money in your bank account if you are working for people you want to say that to.

Having enough money in the bank to tell your hostile boss, “F*ck you, I quit,” is the ultimate act of self-care.

I'm 31. I've still never needed to use calculus, write in cursive, fire up a bunsen burner, or dissect a frog. Spent a lot of time on those things in school, and minimal time on the things that DO impact our everyday lives. It might be time to revisit education standards.
