We thank @DajjalSlayers and @DDPerspective for hosting our HAC Director @Rehiana1980. She talks of the dangers of the new GMC Draft Order and not least the implementation of Lord Mann's review. The draconian changes will allow the GMC to become judge, jury and executioner. She discusses how HAC has had the chutzpah in taking legal action against the GMC and the Department of Health - because the GMC has actually no statutory remit to police speech. She emphasises this pushback is the way to stop the assault on our free speech - for the benefit of all. She pointed out how disappointing it was to see not just suppression (expected) but the active sabotage by alleged pro-Palestine supporters. The new SoS has the same lobby funding...we're not convinced there will be a change UNLESS sufficient and significant pressure is exerted that they can't stomach the fight. Politicians weigh that up vs the funding they receive...We have written to every MP in @UKParliament - only 1 has replied thus far. We will be highlighting this.

HAC wrote to all 650 MPs in @UKParliament expressing concern about the Draft GMC order which is also embedding Lord Mann's proposals. We sent them our detailed HAC Consultation response. We've asked each MP to commit to: 1. Voting AGAINST the Draft Order when it comes before Parliament 2. PUBLICLY lending support to healthcare workers defending free speech and professional independence. We will publish all responses/lack of responses. Read our letter below 👇

Implementation of the Leng review is long overdue. But @TheBMA must act on the motions passed at the ARM. The strength of feeling over the proposed @DHSCgovuk GMC Draft Order is clear. The Mann proposals must be removed.

One year after the Leng Review, the High Court has dismissed a legal challenge to its implementation on all grounds.  With patient safety at stake, the Government and the NHS must now act quickly to stop PAs from seeing undifferentiated patients. I'd be the first to tell people to waste no time on controlled ops but HAC is not currently a controlled op, which is why we are struggling to get coverage and donations.
