@JustGreenOne No it isn't. At all. You either don't understand how it works, or are being disingenuous and trying to make it a bigger deal. Either way, you're embarrassing yourself.

@HDArrowsmith Sony's new timed license change is just as silly as those analogies, but company protectors will still try to defend it.

Sony made this change to digital PlayStation licenses without warning anyone, and now they're not being 100% honest about the change. Before: Buy the game, you receive unlimited access. Now: Buy the game, you receive timed access at first and need to jump through extra hoops.

Sony has provided a statement to GameSpot regarding the PSN license checks: "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required." gamespot.com/articles/plays…

@HDArrowsmith Dude buys a pizza. It's in a new wi-fi controlled box. He eats a tasty slice, but before he can grab another, the box gets locked - since his network is down. Dude: I want to eat the pizza I bought. Company defender: Tough luck. Eat something else. The company is always right.

@ironXclawGaming The same Xbox that did the exact same thing last summer with their refurbished consoles? Yeah, they'll totally be a savior here.

@JustGreenOne So you just can't show any evidence then? That's fine, but don't make up a completely inept, inaccurate, and idiotic analogy instead.

@HDArrowsmith *New tests show company secretly changed refrigerator to lock without wifi check-ins* Customers: We shouldn't be potentially blocked from any food we bought. This is a bad change. Company defenders: You'll survive. Just go eat something else. The company is always right.

@JustGreenOne Show one person affected by this change in the last two months it's been live. Not a content creator that took it apart to test it, an actual regular user that lost access to a game because they couldn't go online. It literally fully stops the exploit it was designed for, so...

@HDArrowsmith It's literally a new hoop, and a step backwards. In the long run it won't stop non-legit users, and may become a big inconvenience for legitimate buyers, especially if the upcoming PlayStation handheld uses the same license system.

@Online41340009u @S0vereignfdawn @its_bilo @_Deez_Games Once. 15 YEARS ago. And it was in some very specific circumstances. In all the years since there's hardly been any instances of servers going down for more than a couple days, and they've literally never gone past a month. A complete waste of breath argument.

- Boots up PS5 connected to Internet - Buys and downloads digital game - Is furious at having to check in online, one time, to confirm validity I... just don't have the words anymore. YOU'RE ONLINE WHEN YOU BUY IT. VALIDITY CHECK - DONE.

@JustGreenOne That's the point. There are *literally* no new hoops to jump through. This change does nothing for anyone who's legitimately buying their games honestly. It's not a downgrade, it's not a hurdle, it's not a hoop. It's a nothingburger.

@HDArrowsmith Company defenders all have the same script. It's an unnecessary downgrade for digital buyers regardless of any personal circumstance. PlayStation's sneaky change doesn't benefit anyone, it only adds extra hoops. If you're fine with jumping through those hoops, I can't stop you.

@ZEROxSOLACE @its_bilo @S0vereignfdawn @_Deez_Games Show one single instance of an actual player suffering from this change since it was implemented two months ago, because it just doesn't happen. Because it's not an issue at all for any legitimate users. And I dont mean the content creators that tested it by dismantling consoles

@its_bilo @HDArrowsmith @S0vereignfdawn @_Deez_Games We dumb. But you read that and didnt think to yourself, "so this huge company cant find a way to stop refunds from being exploited so the best solution is to punish people who actually bought the game" Are yall ok?

@Zuby_Tech understand this, Valve hasn't tried to revoke licenses from us, Sony has tried to multiple times. If Valve became shitty, people have multiple ecosystems to go to for DRM, you are forced to deal with Sony's bullshit on a Playstation, same for MS on an Xbox.

@ZEROxSOLACE @S0vereignfdawn @its_bilo @_Deez_Games They added the change to stop Pirates who were exploiting the refund system to get free games. That's it and all. Because I understand that this new system will never affect me, or 99.99% of users, so making a huge deal out of nothing is a waste of time and energy.

@HDArrowsmith @S0vereignfdawn @its_bilo @_Deez_Games You're the frog in the pot that thinks its in a warm jacuzzi. If it makes no difference as you claim. Why did they add the change? Why do you have more issues with the people who are against the change than the actual corporation that enacted it? Get that boot out your mouth

@ZEROxSOLACE @S0vereignfdawn @its_bilo @_Deez_Games They're didn't take away any of your rights. This whole change means absolutely nothing to 99.99% of users. You would have literally never even noticed they changed it if Pirates hadn't run in to the problem and started screaming about it.

@JustGreenOne If you somehow can't connect to the internet at all for 30+ days, you probably have more significant issues to deal with than not being able to play your newest game. And you can still play literally everything else you own with no issues.

@HDArrowsmith It still doesn't prevent that possibility if the network goes down before you get the permanent license, and it's a step backwards from how it worked previously. I don't want to see this become a new trend for digital games at other companies, like Xbox's paid online.

@HDArrowsmith I don't like the new possibility that we could completely lose access to games we've legally bought & downloaded if PlayStation ever has another long term online blackout, especially if it effects licenses for purchased digital games that should be playable offline.

@JustGreenOne You can't and won't. This check is only for newly purchased newly downloaded games. After 14 days it becomes a permanent license and can be used offline. It has no effect on games purchased before March. There also hasn't been an outage longer than like 2 days in a decade.

@God_of_Apples29 The 30 day window is a buffer so you can get back online without losing access to the game, and so that people that try to keep these licenses on a jailbroken console lose access after those 30 days. What would your alternative be, cut the window at the 14 days?

Ensuring the decline of exploitative scams in that 14 day window makes sense. The 30 day window doesn't 💀 combine that with no information from the start and now they have to do damage control lol
