A jolly goofball who likes: The color green, video games (Nintendo mostly), making art (sometimes), sharing game clips / screenshots, & a place called Miiverse

That's possible, but I think it's more complicated than that. Nintendo currently doesn't allow publishers to order mixtures of Switch 2 media types. Format has to be 100% card, key, or code. And until just a few months ago, 64GB cards were the only (& most expensive) option.

What I'm seeing with this phenomenon is the same thing I'm seeing with game releases being announced for Switch 2- publishers are afraid to go full effort on ports they think won't sell well to the Nintendo audience. For some reason they incorrectly think "family-friendly" = ROI

Like most recent Ubisoft games, if you don't already have a Ubi account it tries to force you to create one for features that should be optional. If you don't care about cross platform save transfer, you can skip the account and start by temporarily turning on Airplane mode.

Recently found out The Rogue Prince of Persia is now available physically on Switch 1 & 2. On S2 it's a empty key card, but the full game is on the S1 card (fully updated with no required downloads). I'll be playing on Switch 2 in boost mode. Here's a look at the box art.

@ArcadeVodka There is hope. They were asked multiple times if it's the full game, and their official response has been "the game is on the card". It's over 120GB on PS5, on Switch 2 it's currently 59.7GB, and stores only mention a download is required for bonus DLC and the polish language.

I don't buy physical games just to look at empty boxes. I buy physical games for the functionality and long term storage benefits. Both could have fit on real cards like Indiana Jones, but you didn't even put those two games on a key card. I know you can do better than that.

@JustGreenOne No it isn't. At all. You either don't understand how it works, or are being disingenuous and trying to make it a bigger deal. Either way, you're embarrassing yourself.

Sony made this change to digital PlayStation licenses without warning anyone, and now they're not being 100% honest about the change. Before: Buy the game, you receive unlimited access. Now: Buy the game, you receive timed access at first and need to jump through extra hoops.

Sony has provided a statement to GameSpot regarding the PSN license checks: "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required." gamespot.com/articles/plays…

@Chicon_81 That's a fair point. People would've been just as upset if they put broken or buggy versions of those games on the real cards (still odd they didn't even use key cards). I wouldn't mind the physical versions releasing later, as long as a decently working game is on the card.

@JustGreenOne Agreed but unfortunately both games are still broken, Bethesda never bothered to fix Skyrim & Fallout. Skyrim is just your typical Bethesda buggy mess, it’s playable but annoyingly so. Fallout 4 Anniversary is broken and nearly unplayable with game breaking bugs.

@HDArrowsmith Sony's new timed license change is just as silly as those analogies, but company protectors will still try to defend it.

@HDArrowsmith Dude buys a pizza. It's in a new wi-fi controlled box. He eats a tasty slice, but before he can grab another, the box gets locked - since his network is down. Dude: I want to eat the pizza I bought. Company defender: Tough luck. Eat something else. The company is always right.

@JustGreenOne So you just can't show any evidence then? That's fine, but don't make up a completely inept, inaccurate, and idiotic analogy instead.

@EnigmaticGaymer Indiana Jones was also slightly too big for the Switch 2 card. They solved the size issue by putting the entire 59GB game on the card while making one extra language a free separate 5GB download. Maybe they could have done the same with Fallout and Skyrim.

@JustGreenOne Ironically Fallout is 200 MB too big for a cartridge. Skyrim would fit though. It also would not be hard for them to optimize Fallout enough to fit. It's funny Bethesda admits they know people want real carts, then do this. Lol.

@HDArrowsmith *New tests show company secretly changed refrigerator to lock without wifi check-ins* Customers: We shouldn't be potentially blocked from any food we bought. This is a bad change. Company defenders: You'll survive. Just go eat something else. The company is always right.

@JustGreenOne Show one person affected by this change in the last two months it's been live. Not a content creator that took it apart to test it, an actual regular user that lost access to a game because they couldn't go online. It literally fully stops the exploit it was designed for, so...

@HDArrowsmith It's literally a new hoop, and a step backwards. In the long run it won't stop non-legit users, and may become a big inconvenience for legitimate buyers, especially if the upcoming PlayStation handheld uses the same license system.

@JustGreenOne That's the point. There are *literally* no new hoops to jump through. This change does nothing for anyone who's legitimately buying their games honestly. It's not a downgrade, it's not a hurdle, it's not a hoop. It's a nothingburger.
