@sam_flec @Emaperidol As an older nurse I take mild offence at this. Very often the response a Dr gets is proportionate to the actions/behaviours exhibited. Whilst I do not condone unkindness or nastiness occasionally a realist response can be interpreted in a negative manner. Not always brutal.

@Emaperidol As a nurse this does not surprise me one bit. Older nurses can be absolutely brutal. Unfortunately I don’t think the “eat their young” mentality will die out until they all retire

@massimonks @Xeon4f145d96s1 Yeah it is. The nurse could have asked kindly and/or arranged an alternative area in the hospital. Just imagine the reaction if a doctor did this. But also, why does the room even need to be blocked off for the whole day?!

@danny_mercer Very simple solution: task needs doing, who has the skill set for said task?, who with skill set is free to do task? Boom they do the task.

I'm just an F1 on-call, flying around, seeing patients I've never seen ... wondering why so many nurses can't bleed their patients tonight I've heard: 1) im not signed off after 2 years asking 2) I never get it so I paged you 3) I haven't done it since uni - SIX years ago

@mevparekh If a task requires doing, who has the skill set to carry out said task? who is available to carry out task? Whoever has the skill set and the time should carry out the task no matter how insignificant someone may perceive that task.

Me learning to say “that’s not my job” is how I survived (thrived?) 7 years of being a medical registrar and (mostly) evaded burnout, yeah I don’t make tea or dip urines very often because I want to focus on getting my work done, so I can leave work on time and focus on life.
