MH370 Search: No Dogs, No Ponies, and No Plane
I have been profoundly negative on the new OI search. I kept my feelings somewhat quiet (but I had a hard time holding it in). I knew from my work and involvement, the search did not seem to be anything about actually finding MH370. I thought it was a "dog and pony show" to demonstrate Ocean Infinity capability. I also think the search area had to do with: that was an area OI was comfortable searching from 2018. So we witnessed 8-yrs of campaigning for OI to search a "practical" area that they felt they wanted to do next. However in the intervening 8-yrs, I advanced up the learning curve enough to grasp that the basic MH370 assumptions were probably wishful thinking, feel-good-for-aviation-industry assumptions.
Also: does anyone really think PM Anwar Ibrahim wants to find an aircraft that his compatriot scuttled, probably in protest of Anwar's jail sentence that day for sodomy (crazy charge in the first place)? Probably not, although I had some hope that Anwar could rise above the inference, but probably not if the inference has any legs or perception thereof.
This was a safe search, in a practical search area, looking for a ghost flight, that did not risk actually finding the likely active-pilot-to-Broken Ridge actual probable crash region (recall 2018 at Broken Ridge was about when Malaysia military tried to take control of the OI search).
Meanwhile I am certainly confused that Ocean Infinity's "dog and pony show" went belly-up (perhaps like MH370-inverted crash? who knows - inverted crash was a CAPTION idea several years ago ). The new robotic Armada ships, with touted AI technology, finding a crash location based on top-notch AI analysis of the satellite data, were no match for OI's 2018 extraordinary search, then conducted with the rental mothership Seabed Contractor. Seems to suggest the new Armada ships are non-ideal for the MH370 search job in the roaring SIO 30s?
Geez, the recent OI words "when circumstances allow" is a 90-lb weakling statement compared to OI's words last year, paraphrasing, they would search until the end of time until MH370 is found. I knew that was probably B.S., because of denial. Denialists are the ones with the conviction and motive to take charge of the effort, thus there is no bona fide effort in our lifetimes to find the aircraft. The interest is only attempting to confirm a ghost-flight or hybrid (intentional) ghost flight, which is considered socially-acceptable (but Wishful Thinking).
Holy mackerel the mass media just 2-months ago, including realists like John Nance, had voiced much confidence that MH370 would be found this time. What were they smoking? Credit one voice, CNN Tom Foreman, who was not drinking the Kool-Aid. Give him another Emmy award.
