@SmittySports502 @sixringsofsteeI While we’re at it. Enough of the casual athletic attire for coaches.
Bring back some suits on the sideline

@Mavs_FFL What do you truly think goes through Nico’s mind on a daily basis?

@nickgraynews @JesseItzler Jesse is awesome. He’s the reason my dad, brother, and I hiked Grand Canyon rim-to-rim last year. Dude lives life to the fullest

I’m sitting in the sauna with Jesse Itzler, the guy who used to manage Run DMC
He’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars from selling his companies Marquis Jet and Zico Coconut Water
In a few minutes I’m going to ask Jesse a question. He will tell me several amazing answers that I’ll share here so you can learn from his experience
But right now we’re in the sauna
We’re at his house in the North Georgia mountains. I am covered in sweat and my vision is blurry from the heat and humidity
Jesse is smiling and dripping. He looks great for 56
There is so much pollen in the air outside that my girlfriend can’t stop sneezing and our rental Tesla out back is covered in a yellow layer of allergen
We jump in his pool to wash off the sweat and then climb into a cold plunge. This hot-cold cycle is called contrast therapy. It is quite a stimulant

I am sometimes introduced as “The Most Interesting Man in Austin” but I feel like an imposter sitting next to Jesse now
To introduce Jesse Itzler as a character is difficult. He has done so much- and lived so many adventures along the way
He’s a rapper, a father, a basketball team owner, a manager, a producer, an author, and an entrepreneur
He makes millions a year in speaking fees and sells something called “The Big A## Calendar” that helps people prioritize the big things in life
I bought Jesse’s calendar a year ago. It is a huge wall poster that lists out all the days of the year in one big view. I planned to use it for my own perfect year
But then I needed a housewarming gift for a billionaire’s wife
Because what can you get for someone who can have anything? So I gave her my unopened calendar
I showed up to their house and past security with a huge cardboard roll under my arm. Everyone else brought bottles of wine
They stuck the tube in a corner. I rolled it out hours and three glasses of wine later to explain how it worked and why it was awesome
A month later they texted me thanks. It was a great gift

Jesse and I dry off and sit outside on black folding chairs covered in that yellow pollen dust
I have learned that you have to ask your mentors a question directly if you want a good answer
Don’t wait until the end of the hang, don’t beat around the bush- just be clear and direct and ask your question
So I look at Jesse and I ask a sincere question that I’d like to know:
What are 3 things you’ve done that once you did them, you wished you’d done sooner?
I recently paid for a meal prep service to make me meals for the week each Sunday afternoon. The next day I had healthy food ready in the refrigerator, and I immediately started eating better lunches and less junk food.
I wish I had done that sooner. To pay a little more to have healthy meals in the fridge.
So I want to know: What were some of those things for him?
Jesse Itzler likes my question. He gets a lot of questions, but he says nobody has ever asked him this one before
“I’m going to flip it, Nick, and I’ll first tell you two things I don’t regret doing.”
I think this is smart- to tell someone you’ve never received their question before- because it makes me feel seen. But remember that a good question is a genuine question, and not a brain teaser
I’ll tell you what he told me, but now we’re going on a hike. I ask to take a picture together real quick.
I like his neon yellow shirt. I’ll post the rest tomorrow
