2/3: The political situation has stifled potential local criticism to the bill; the consultation process saw a rate of 98.64% “positive feedback.” Note that the last attempt to pass this law (in 2003) was scrapped, due to major counterprotests. Such protests are now impossible.

Freedom of association and expression are essential rights. They can only be protected when a society allots room for people to act upon these freedoms safely. We are disappointed at this outcome, and its implications towards the degradation of essential rights.

Perhaps they should have held the Rugby 7s in the Four Seasons, where amber codes were no problem and no masks were required for the @hkmagovhk bankers' jamboree. But at an outdoor event, the virus is much more dangerous. And remember, this chap tested negative in the last 48h.

The “conspiracy” among the Stand News editors alleged by HK prosecutors is that they agreed to publish articles on hot issues and important news that came up. I think it’s called: Running a newsroom.
