I am convinced that a big part of the reason why Newey was suddenly yanked offstage & is up for replacement is that in his very first press conference as Team Principal he told an obvious lie about Honda—a critical partner & one of the largest car manufacturers in the world.

I met Mueller once at the office & he was a very warm person. Still, he was not well equipped for a brawl with Trump. His stubborn adherence to institutional norms doomed both his effort to hold Trump accountable and, ultimately, our country.

@thef1diplomat @klev199 He’s protecting his reputation while in a terrible car. Toto Wolff did some nasty work when he convinced the paddock that Red Bull/Ford had a top PU during testing. Max is attacking the whole regulation set to immunize his reputation & to lobby for changes that benefit ORBR.

@klev199 No, not really. I just genuinely don’t know why Max keeps getting ragebaited by F1 and the regs. He has all of the achievements and money in the world. If he’s genuinely not happy, and there is an immediate lateral opportunity for happiness… sounds like he just wants to complain
