honestly i'm this close to quitting reading for good. every single author i actually love turns out to be problematic or worse. i'm so tired of finding out after i already got attached. feels like i can't enjoy anything anymore without a background check first

@norabird I could barely get through a chapter of Normal People, I don’t think unproblematic writers are for me, lol. Like, I’m happy for her that she’s nice, but you couldn’t pay me to read her books (I do appreciate tastes differ).

@norabird because one is a government funded public service and the other is a resource the students paid for that also gives them access to so much more than a normal library. like have you ever Been in one ? they have expensive technology especially if the school is known for a major

Something I think about when men are like “why don’t women ask MEN out??” Obviously a lot of this is just feeling it’s unfair that they have to do all the work, but also some is fear that there are all these women in the world silently yearning for them and doing nothing out of cowardice(?). A belief that they might be missing out on a hidden goldmine. but I think that’s not the case. Probably most women make their interest obvious, in their own way, and men reject, in their own way, and there’s no hidden population of potentials that u can unlock.
