Transient 2.9 V3 Macro Knurled Drops 1/30 Morning guys! Happy #TransientTuesday! I wanted to share the configurations I’m dropping this Friday! The “Macro Knurling” pattern uses the same tool and angles as my “Micro Knurling”, with a slightly larger step over. A bit grippier, and more bold. They will be available in two opening methods (window and thumbstud) contrasting finish options. I’ll talk more about that in a video on Thursday! Stoked to get these in your hands! Have a great day! ‼️ Something New Is Brewing ‼️ What’s up Hellions! Happy Friday! I’m down in Texas with Collin, clocking some hang time and hammering out some details for our first collab : the Genesis 3.5! I’ve gotten to know Collin pretty well over the last year and a half since he migrated back into the world of knives after a long hiatus. Like many people, I watched from a distance between 2016 and 2021 as he pushed the limits of what’s possible with forging stainless and titanium damascus, without a real appreciation for it but certainly mesmerized by its aesthetic. Fast forward to 2023, when Logan and I started working on our stainless Bromascus, at which point I really started to understand the depth and complexity to which Collin had delved with his craft. Logan and I both started making knives at the same time, and found we both drew inspiration in our ideas for our stainless damascus from everything we had seen Collin do in the past years. I’ve had the pleasure of using several pieces of Collin’s material over the last couple of years, each one seemingly better than the last! As our friendship developed, and mutual respect was gained through long conversations, handling each others knives and brainstorming / solving problems with our collabs etc … it became more and more evident that we should do something new, together. I sent him the Transient 3.2 model, and asked him to use the guts of my hidden flipper mechanism and window, to create something uniquely his own. He spent about a month digging into CAD, and ultimately came out with the profile you see below, which we are calling the Genesis! He sent the solid models back to me, and I scaled it to a 3.5” blade, and fitted my subliner lock geometry into the frames. We had HOPED to have a component assembly to work on while I was down here, but I lost 5 days of machine time to electrical issues in the shop, and was left with just enough time to machine some soft MagnaCut blades to show him. This new design is going to be made in the HMC shop, but it’s been great and refreshing to see a friend take one of the features I think defines the Transient and build something new in their style around it. I absolutely love this design! As we have refined the making process over the last couple of years of doing drops at the shop, I’ve been finding myself loving the idea of using this process to include my friends in the future of my brand. I know so many talented guys in this industry, people I respect and have gotten to know well over the last 10 years. I hope this is the first of many collab designs that we will make ourselves in the Dungeon 🙂 We should have a couple of prototypes finished and available in the coming weeks - SO much in store for this design! Happy #TransientTuesday, Hellions! Doing some grinding today, love / hate! This is a special blade! performance low layer stainless Texas Twist Radmascus, end grain style! Forged by my buddy Collin down in Texas. I’ve used a lot of stainless damascus - whether it be stuff that Logan and I forged, many beautiful billets from Mike Norris, some Damasteel and Vegas Forge and Nichols … but I gotta say, this piece of Texas Twist might be the cleanest piece of stainless I’ve ever used. Pretty much cannot wait to see it mirror polished and etched! My wife is laid up with a nasty flu right now, so I am in and out of the shop taking care of her, and now the kids who are home from school. But I’ll be back at the grinder tomorrow! Hellions! Let’s Talk! Morning guys! I have some questions for you! I am beginning to plan my show prep for March - I’ve been committed to Blade Texas since last fall, but about a month ago was invited to do NOCKI, which coincidentally is the week after Texas. I am only one person, and even with Mike’s help, prepping for two shows back to back is A LOT. I’m starting my planning now, and want to begin show prep on February 1st at the latest. Last year, for Portland, I did a bunch of builds all using glass composite from Morphaholic - since then, Valentin has come out with a TON of new colors, and I’ve been hoarding them all 😈 (see picture) Would you guys be down with me doing something similar for Texas? A good number of glass composite framed builds, with one or two fancies sprinkled in? This will allow me to focus on staying more fancy for New Orleans, which feels appropriate to me given the vibes of both shows. I want to know your thoughts! Let me know below!
