The visit hall will reopen Tuesday 29 July. Extra sessions will be available on the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hot food will not be available during morning sessions, but cold snacks and drinks are available to be pre-ordered while booking.

The visits hall at HMP Deerbolt will be closed for major refurbishment from 16 June 2025 for approximately 4 weeks. Please see the attached image for more information (alt text description available).

Our prison and regional office staff have collected five trollies worth of toys for @cashforkidsNE's Mission Christmas campaign! A big thank you to our colleagues for their incredible generosity. These donations will help ensure no child goes without a gift this Christmas. 🎁

This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we raised over £500 for Teasdale @CR_UK Group, which has supported the UK’s Drug Discovery Centre & Childhood Cancer Research Centre in the North East for 50 years. Prisoners donated over half the money raised & staff held a bake sale 👏

Learning to share & understand different cultures can play a role in reducing reoffending as it builds a stronger sense of society. #BlackHistoryMonth gives prisoners a chance to understand Black history through educational events such as open discussions, & historical accounts.

@DofE 3 of 3: The Governor welcomed Mark Solan, Chief Executive Officer of the charity, in to @hmpdeerbolt earlier this month, who congratulated our DofE participant / fundraising prisoner and his DofE team. Well done!

1 of 3: We have a cohort of young adult men taking part in @DofE Award scheme @hmpdeerbolt and are pleased to announce that one of our prisoners used his DofE physical challenge (which culminated in an amazing 100km gymnasium row taking 8.19 hours to complete) to fundraise £1502.

@DofE 2 of 3: This fantastic fundraise was for local North East charity @teamsolan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust, with pledges from family, staff and fellow prisoners to raise the final amount.

Children visiting HMP Deerbolt near Barnard Castle are being given the opportunity to grow their very own Beanstalk this summer and watch it grow up to the height of their Castle in the sky. It looks like some of them are doing really well!

@Icareforu2t We still require social distancing on entry and exit to the visits area for now, but that will gradually relax and help increase the length of time available for visits as we won't require the staggered visits times.
