There is nothing like the sound of a child's laughter to remind you that your apartment is haunted.

Last week was Read Across America Day and everyone at my kid’s school dressed up as their favorite character from a book, and not a single kid went as Jude the Obscure 😭

@jthouse37 I just received this as a dm, and I see "you" have also posted it. Maybe change your password. Not sure what else you have to do.

Blizzard of 2026 in my community. Beautiful outside (if you don't have to be)...not too cold. Snowpeople in the oval!

@sevensixfive I was thinking a series about a detective squad that never solves a crime and always gives up at the end of each episode.

What if that part of the movie where everything is going really smoothly and we get a montage of daily life but there’s no second act, nothing bad ever happens and it all just keeps going? How about that?

Hey, @DellCares. I was just told the loose port in my laptop isn't covered by Dell Premium Support because there is a possibility that it was caused by accidental damage. Is that your official policy? If the possibility exists that it isn't covered, it isn't covered?

@speechboy71 That all made sense, so I'm not going to attempt to refute it, but as someone who went to shows in the seventies, a dozen, maybe, that is not at all the impression I got from either the shows themselves or from talking with many people about them.

The thing about late-era Bobby that always amused me is that back in the day he was the “cheesy one” … with those ridiculous shorts and his silly kicks. The dude just wasn’t cool Jerry’s songs were better and always the emotional high points of shows. You had sit through one of Bobby’s blues tunes or a cowboy tune or god forbid a Picasso Moon or Corrina. Bobby had his moments (Other One, Stranger, Sugar Mag, Saturday Night) but Jerry was the sun, the moon and stars. After Jerry died, Bobby went through a lot - particularly struggles with alcohol and underwhelming incarnations of the Dead. But then with Dead Company he went from being “cheesy Bobby” to “wizened, keeper of the flame Bobby” and, by far, the coolest member of the band. He became the Dead’s Jerry but more than anything else he kept the Dead’s spirit and cultural influence alive for a new generation. It was an extraordinary transformation.

I like to keep my resolutions realistic, so I’m just going to refrain from any jury tampering this year and call it good.

nutrition is bullshit but if you had to bet on a few foods being genuinely good for you what would you bet on? (not like, you only eat those foods, but say you eat them regularly & they improve your life)

Also, if music prevents you from observing the goings on around you, perhaps it might have something to do with the type of music you’re listening to Sometimes I don’t even realize it’s a nice day until a song like Holst’s Jupiter almost forces me to notice what’s around me

It is now technologically feasible to produce something called “My Dinner with Andre: A VR Experience,” but it will probably never happen

He set about doing the dishes with a sort of wild abandon he had never known in his youth, had never imagined possible. One, two! One, two! Plates and glasses, forks and knives, all fell before him. One, two! One, two! "Snicker-snack!" he shouted, startling the cat.

Reminded by all of the shoggoth discourse that Aliens vs. Predator is an adaptation of Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness," which is based on how Ridley Scott originally imagined Alien would go. Xenomorphs are shoggoths. Scott came back to these ideas in Prometheus.
