Keir Starmer is handing the keys of No.10 to Andy Burnham next week, and he is leaving with an absolute masterclass of a final week. Just look at the scoreboard from Monday and Tuesday alone. i - £5.2bn Services Deal with Switzerland: the biggest services trade deal in UK history. ii - Historic Gibraltar Treaty :finally sorting a post-Brexit hard border while strictly preserving British sovereignty. iii - Ukraine Defence Procurement :securing major manufacturing and engineering jobs right here in the UK. iv - Legion d’honneur .Starmer becomes the first-ever serving British PM to receive France’s highest honour. This is a government focused on bringing pride, justice, and economic security back to the UK. Let’s be honest.Has any UK government delivered this much in a single week in the last decade?

Loved seeing Andy Burnham address the rumours head-on. He wasn’t directly involved in the decisions that led to Keir Starmer stepping down he simply wasn’t in Parliament for those PLP calls. Starmer faced enormous challenges: poor local results, Reform pressure, opposition criticism, activist voices, and wider pressures home and abroad.Rather than drag it out, he chose the national interest and a smooth handover. That says a lot about putting country before self. Two capable Labour figures. One delivered the 2024 win, the other now brings proven local leadership and devolution plans. Let’s hope this means better focus on the people who need it most. Brits, are we optimistic or worried about what comes next?

@dave_x4 Calling a PM who won a historic landslide incompetent is rewriting history. He faced unprecedented pressure and chose a dignified exit for the country. He deserves his flowers 🌹

@HonestHalo You missed out the fact that Starmer was totally incompetent and not cut out for the job. One can only hope that we hear very little from the imbecile in the future.

That’s a cynical take, but the reality is no PM can survive a collapse down to 17% in the polls and massive local losses without the party panicking.conspiracy or not, those local election results were undeniably catastrophic for the party. Starmer stepping down avoids a long, toxic internal civil war. Whether you think Burnham planned it or just seized the moment, the question now is whether his regional devolution plans can actually fix what's broken.

@HonestHalo He was planning this coup over a year ago with Haigh and Powell. They used the local election results as their excuse. No other PM has resigned because of bad local election results. Burnham is a liar.

I appreciate that's fair view on Starmer’s achievement. but history shows that when a PM faces that much simultaneous pressure from local elections and Reform, a reset happens fast. Are you more worried about the new PM lack of Westminster experience, or the direction he might take?

Viviane: Holding Burnham to account
@HonestHalo We clearly see this in a different way. I see the PM who changed the Party, won an election, delivered on his manifesto faster than any other PM in history being ousted by a wannabe PM and his crew who didn’t seek authority but carried on regardless to give us an inexperienced PM

Farage is highlighting the obvious risk. Starmer got the mandate and still fell to internal knives. Now Burnham selected internally after a safe seat by-election steps up with the same fractured party. Farage warned the honeymoon would be 48 hours because the backbenchers will drag him left. Farage might be right that the fragmentation is here to stay unless someone levels with the public about the hard choices ahead. is the Labour Party too divided to deliver stable government, or can Burnham hold it together and prove Farage wrong? 📹~ GBNews

Big day for British politics 🇬🇧 Andy Burnham confirmed as Labour leader and set to become our next PM around 20 July. The King of the North brings real credibility with working people his Greater Manchester devolution delivered on transport, housing, and jobs. His strong Makerfield by-election win showed he connects where it matters. That said, going unopposed risks looking light on democratic debate. Southern scepticism is real, and governing will mean tough calls on the economy, NHS, and Reform beyond inspiring talk. Can Burnham unite a divided Britain, or will regional divides sink him? Should he call a snap election for a proper mandate? What’s the ONE thing he must get right in his first 100 days?

Andy Burnham is dodging scrutiny about his plans to raise taxes. Instead he’s telling us he puts milk in his tea before water 🤔 This isn’t going to end well.

In a divided world, moments like this matter. From President Macron awarding Sir Keir Starmer the Légion d’Honneur to President Zelenskyy bestowing Ukraine’s highest civilian honour the Order of Freedom clear international recognition of Britain’s commitment to allies and European security. Thank you, Prime Minister, for putting country and alliances first. Opposition, activists and others does seeing Britain honoured on the world stage for leadership and steadfast support change anything about your view of Starmer’s record, or will the attacks continue regardless?

Unlike previous administrations that rewarded political allies with vanity awards, Starmer’s approach prioritises serious governance and long-term stability. By drawing on experienced Labour figures and policy experts including Sir Sadiq Khan, a knighted mayor with over a decade of leadership in London, and advocates focused on child welfare and social care he is injecting practical expertise into the House of Lords to strengthen scrutiny, support key reforms like children’s wellbeing legislation, and deliver for working people.

🇬🇧🇺🇦 In his final trip as PM, Sir Keir Starmer has been awarded Ukraine’s highest honour the Order of Freedom by President Zelenskyy. He also pledged €300m with Sweden for 16 Gripen fighter jets boosting British jobs. True leadership and a lasting legacy. Classy exit. Labour supporters proud of this international recognition? Opposition, activists and others will you acknowledge this achievement or keep attacking regardless? Fellow Brits what does this say about the kind of country we are on the world stage 📹sky news

Starmer’s decisive electoral wins gave him a clear mandate to rebuild Britain’s foundations. Now he has resigned, and with Andy Burnham preparing to take the helm backed by an overwhelming 349 Labour MPs the focus must be on continuing that strong, democratic legacy for the whole country.

@HonestHalo @beneathbluster Starmer still has legitimacy as Prime Minister as he won the General Election. He has legitimacy as leader of the Labour Party because he easily won the leadership we lection. The imposter Burnham has done neither and has no legitimacy.
