It’s been a manic first few days. From driving Nigel round Makerfield to getting out and speaking to voters and meeting our incredible volunteers. It’s been surreal.
Here’s my view from the van.

@drwhofan_194 You misunderstand what I am saying. The role of a backbench MP is not the same as someone in employment.
You don't have to clock in, there's no start time, no clocking off. No boss. No deliverables. The role is literally what you want to do with it.

I can understand a minister or shadow minister suffering from burnout and consequently returning to the back benches.
But a backbench MP? With no formal responsibility other than voting? What is it that time is being taken out from?
What is it that there is a ‘leave of absence’ from? MPs aren’t employees.
Is this just a letter to say no surgeries for a few weeks?
