@_laurends Oh my goodness Lauren! As I am looking for a post I am only just reading this!!!!! Looking at the date, I was on mat leave and off Twitter! How are you?! 🤩
English

My 'nurture group' absolutely LOVED le jeu des 7 familles. They have French once a fortnight as a non-assessed subject due to very low literacy skills. So it's no stress for me and pure fun for all of us. #mfltwitterati

@gianfrancocont9 One of my favourite activity of yours. It's so simple, my students love it and the gains are fantastic. I like to reuse it now and again as a quick starter to beat the forgetting curve.I am planning on using this activity at an interview lesson this week.

@VEverettmfl @joedale Thanks a lot. That sounds great. Thanks for the retweet. 😘
English

@HRHofficial @joedale 2020 is the most useful because of the 33%, 33%, 33% split of the total (speaking doesn't count).
English

@missdcox Yes! This is part of our new approach to mfl. We teach past and future tense phrases from day 1, get students to get familiar and use them loads. Then when we teach the whole functioning of those tenses, they have something to anchor their knowledge onto. It works.👍
English

Been thinking about this today.
Sometimes if we just say to students ‘it’s complex’ & leave it there, I think it’s OK.
We’ve set the ‘peg’ in place so if they ever go on the learn about the complexity they have the start of something to ‘hang’ it on.

@TeacheryDiaz I love the feedback sheet. Thanks for sharing. I am in the process of revamping pursuing so this is excellent inspiration.

@Missktripp Have you found something that works well? I have been on mat leave since the first lockdown. Now I am back teaching but children are wearing masks and we are not allowed to do choral repetition. I came to Twitter to ask exactly the same question.
English

How is everyone coping with covid restricted choral repetition? Facemasks on? No group talking?- advice needed- struggling to see how to teach phonics with no speaking #mfltwitterati

GCSE centre assessment grades in French and German: Ofqual said they’d address historical harsh grading in this year’s results. Does anyone know if we build this into teacher judgements, or judge as normal and Ofqual will do it? Thx #mfltwitterati @joedale @nowMrsMFL @MFLChat
English

@ChrisMFLTandL @BexN91 @eclatham @joedale @nowMrsMFL @MFLChat So does this mean using the 2018 or 2019 grade boundary? 2018 was easier.
English

@BexN91 @eclatham @joedale @nowMrsMFL @MFLChat Here it is. Pasting a link to tweet. Not sure it’ll work...

@HannahRyanProf Planned adjustments in French and German GCSE grading in 2020 will be made at a national level by exam boards and guided by us. Teachers should work to the same standard as 2019 when grading learners this year.
English

@missdcox How do we grade this work if we have no certainty it's been done under exam condition? If that's what I am forced to do, I will do it and they will ALL without a doubt improve their grades! Ofqual needs to decide if they what pre or post isolation evidence.
English

@jkfairclough @missdcox Exactly! My poor little boy. Since we had this email with those crazy expectations my boy has been getting a lot of screen time. Mummy guilt is HUGE! This has caused a lot of unnecessary stress in our home and a lot of frustration on my part.
Do you need a head of MFL? 😘
English

@HRHofficial @missdcox It’s a very difficult time for us all but many of my teachers also have children to look after. My job is to support them as much as possible... not make it more difficult
English

@jkfairclough @missdcox A HT with some common sense. How refreshing!

@HRHofficial @missdcox I’ve specifically said that teachers are not expected to mark work. Difficult balancing teacher wellbeing and parents who want learning to continue as normal.
English

@HRHofficial Her neighbour got her some stuff and I'll drop some stuff after school on Friday. x
English

@HRHofficial That’s awful. My sister lives over your way and it seems there are less supplies than over here.
Marking is an issue!
