As the person who coined the term surveillance pricing I can tell you this bill does not ban surveillance pricing. It makes it harder to enforce existing consumer protection laws against pricing abuses while having so many carve outs and consent exceptions that any company can just rename what they are doing. Worse than nothing.

@sportsrapport Even with the app component, there is no way WWE is happy with less viewership than a random SmackDown on FOX. This is a huge wake up call. The app number will be a fraction of the linear number.

This is a pretty good number for WWE/ESPN all things considered. 1) Up against NBA/NHL playoffs 2) It doesn't count the viewers on the app. The hardcore viewers would all be watching there so they don't have to switch over when simulcast ends. The key numbers, which we don't know, are a) how many people watched on the app each night and b) how many ESPN Unlimited signups did WrestleMania drive?

These were the TV ratings for the WrestleMania simulcasts on ESPN2 (Saturday) and ESPN (Sunday). Note these numbers do not include everyone who was watching on the ESPN Unlimited streams, which had the whole shows both nights. @FOS Sat ESPN2 - 1.62M viewers Sun ESPN - 1.82M The one hour countdown did 676k Saturday on ESPN2 and 750K Sunday on ESPN.

WOR: AEW Redemption PPV is believed to be happening in July sandwiched between Forbidden Door and All In. “July is gonna be a PPV called Redemption, I believe. They've added that show. People thought Forbidden Door would be the last PPV before All In but there will be another one. Redemption show will probably set up whatever Wembley is gonna be. Forbidden Door will just be matches with NJPW, STARDOM and CMLL.” (via Dave Meltzer/Bryan Alvarez)

@davemeltzerWON The one piece you’re missing Dave is that companies like WWE control who they market to, how they position the brand, etc. WWE’s pricing is trying to go from being Pizza Hut to fine Italian. Both have a market, but you’re counting huge on successfully changing your customer base.

People seem to miss pricing reality. I can point to a specific show, a sold out AEW PPV in Orlando a few years ago when the scalpers made more gate money than AEW did because they priced too low for the market. The reality is if you made every ticket for Mania $100, sure, you get a $6 million gate for two shows, but the scalpers know the worth, buy the tickets and resell them and they'll make triple or quadruple what the company makes. The price is a structure of market interest. Sometimes like this year's Mania, it was too high, but if you're doing 10,000 on Friday, you're not overpricing the market.

Didn't catch Collision last night, but I like the additions to the Dynasty card. Hayter/Thekla was an easy one, but I never would've thought to do Windsor/Shafir. Smart undercard addition to a show coming on a one month build. I'll say this, though: they're bringing back a lot of acts that I think the company could've done without. Jericho, Shida, Private Party, Hurt Syndicate have done good work in the past. They can contribute. But we just saw the company thrive and refresh while they were gone. Their cycling out felt natural enough, and the cycling back in feels unnecessary with the roll the promotion is on right now.
