The HTA archive catalogue has gone live on the Archives Hub! Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this happen: heritage staff, volunteers, the project funder @UkNatArchives and of course the @harristweedauth themselves for depositing their collection with @Tasglann! twitter.com/archiveshub/st…

I is for...iron-on stamp! The Harris Tweed Orb is applied to each length of tweed using an iron-on transfer. Here are some HTA employees doing the ironing! (1st photo © Angus Smith, 2nd photo © courtesy HTA/Tasglann) #ArchiveZ #tweedtuesday @ARAScot

H is for Harris Tweed Association - the forerunner of the Harris Tweed Authority! (A week behind in #ArchiveZ AGAIN.) It was created in 1909, to apply the #harristweed trademark (the Orb!) and promote the cloth. Here's the founding doc (1909) and a photo (c.1930s-1950s) @ARAScot

@needleclicker Good point! 😂 To be fair, some plants might be good for dyeing AND dying!

G is for garden...not something that you'd expect to find in the HTA archive! This 'Hebridean Weaver's Garden' was designed for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2013. It includes features such as a section of a blackhouse, a spinning wheel, and plants for dying. #ArchiveZ @ARAScot

@bulwerlyttonweb @GuardianArchive 😂😂😂 thankfully not! I have various pieces of Harris Tweed, but that's as close as I can get! (Harris Tweed underwear is not a thing that anyone needs...)

F is for finance! (A week behind in #ArchiveZ!) The HTA archive has account books going back to 1911, when the #harristweed orb stamp was first used. This volume has pages for all sorts of transactions, from salaries to legal costs. And some excellent marbled paper! @ARAScot

Last Thursday we joined in with a luadh @MuseumnanEilean! Traditionally this process - also known as waulking - was done by groups of women, who would sing rhythmic songs as they beat the tweed against a hard surface to shrink it down #harristweed #tweedtuesday
