No. It’s one movie and not nearly enough to dismiss all filmmakers who rise through that platform. It’d be like dismissing every director who got their start on TV because one made a so-so movie. Major studios have released far worse. Folks need to move on - feels obsessive.

@jayjjalen To me, him making the wish isn’t condemnable because like, what normal person would’ve thought that it would actually work? It’s everything he does after the wish that makes him the villain. The second she reappeared at his car window, he should’ve known that something was wrong.

Bear is not immediately the villain of Obsession, as he simply couldn’t overcome his overwhelming insecurities for female affection. However, there is a certain point (or two) where it’s made abundantly clear to him that this isn’t a game and something is extremely wrong. Yet he does nothing about it and continues to believe that he can make this situation work. That’s when he officially becomes the villain because the situation completely spirals out of control.

@seaofbelIs One of the creepiest scenes for me is when Bear is on the phone with the customer service guy and he puts the real Nikki on the line and we not only hear her screaming in agony but it sounds like she’s in a vortex as if she’s in Hell. Leaves a lot up to the imagination.

Everyone praising Inde Navarrette for all the crazy stuff she does in obsession but for me some of her best moments were when we would get those glimpses of the real Nikki trapped behind the version of nikki under the wish that’s the real horror to me it made me so upset !!!

I don’t disagree that she’s also a victim of capitalism. Capitalism caters to these young men and enables them. But Bear isn’t innocent. He makes the wish. Part of him still wanted it to work. He also doesn’t try to fix things until they become unbearable AFTER she asks him to kill her…..

@apat10 I think people are being a bit too hard on Bear cause in what fucking world would a normal person think their wish would actually come true, let alone in such an odd way He does try to save her and ultimately does what's needed to be done to save her She's a victim of capitalism

@LeftyWinter I’m for fighting back, but the part about lowering the retirement age for judges to the low 50s sounds ridiculous. Isn’t the whole thing with judges that they’re old because of how long it takes to work up to that level? I looked it up. The average age for a judge is like 68.

NEWS: According to the New York Times, some Democrats are proposing a plan to overturn the state’s Supreme Court ruling that invalidated the referendum: 1) Invoke the circuit court ruling that invalidated the referendum due to county officials not posting notice of it at courthouses 3 months before the election to invalidate the 2020 constitutional amendment that created the independent redistricting commission by arguing that the courthouses also did not post notice of it at the time either. 2) Lower the mandatory retirement age for justices from 75 to 54 (or less). That would remove every justice on the court. @BeAfraid_Movies Not the final act, but the final shot. The ending was actually very well done and a haunting gut punch, but apparently Jason Blum couldn’t help himself and forced the director to add that stupid jumpscare at the end where Bughuul just pops in front of the camera for no reason.
