This photo is from the 2007 Maasai - Kipsigis clashes in Olmelil. The violence erupted after late Johana Ngenoh (later Emurua Dikir MP) won the Kilgoris parliamentary seat, with chaos breaking out before results were even announced. A repeat election followed, and Maasai clans united behind Gideon Konchela, the former Kilgoris MP. Hii vita ilikuwa kali sana — both sides endured significant losses in lives and injuries. Peace was eventually restored when the constituency was split, carving out Emurua Dikir for the Kipsigis. I was here fresh from high school. Where were you during this period? The photo was taken by a Japanese journalist.

Remember him? Dr. Clement Munyao is finally a free man after spending 26 years behind bars. A respected neurosurgeon who once saved lives in the operating theatre ended up in Kamiti Maximum Prison at the age of 42. Today, at 68, he walks out with a life that can never be returned to him. His story is heartbreaking. Dr. Clement Munyao bought a second-hand phone for his daughter. It seemed like an ordinary purchase. Unknown to him, the phone had been stolen during the murder of Moses Gituma, a senior Central Bank official and brother to the then-Commissioner of Police, Mathew Iteere. When investigators traced the phone, they arrested Dr. Munyao. He was later convicted, largely because he was found in possession of the stolen phone. Throughout the case, he maintained that he had bought it from someone at the hospital and had cooperated with investigators, but he was unable to produce who sold it to him, na hivyo ndio jamaa alisukuma 26 years Kamiti. He lost 26 years of his life. Twenty-six years he could have spent treating patients, being with his family, and living as a free man. The easiest way to end up in a Kenyan Prison and serve a sentence for a crime you never commited and know nothing about is by buying a second hand phone without asking proof of ownership. I hope Dr. Munyao finds peace and healing as he begins this new chapter of his life.

Mmh.. I'm curious. How useful is NasG in the setting of a dispensary. Definitive management of a pph patient in a dispensary is immediate and urgent referral, other than TXA, and may staff is not adequately trained to put NsG at dispensary, nothing much can be done the

@Daktari_Muli Many counties have really made commendable efforts towards preventing maternal mortality. There is a county which was distributing NASG at dispensary level.

@gacikiraMD BP of 70/40. This is critical low BPs and vital organs are not getting adequate perfusion due to reduced cardiac output. At any time, patient will get central cyanosis and suboptimal tissue function
