My stance on D3 calling their opportunities “offers” There are half a MILLION kids that play high school basketball… Roughly about 8% of those players will go on to play college basketball across all levels.. Only 3% will have the opportunity to play at the D3 level! OFFER!

@JeffAnderson__ @the_goodwin6 Can anyone just walk in the gym and play at a D3 or do they have to OFFER you a spot on the team? If I pay for a 24 hour fitness membership they can’t stop me from playing, but just because I pay tuition at a D3 doesn’t mean I can play on the team. That has to be OFFERED to me

@the_goodwin6 There’s a huge difference of getting paid and getting your school paid for. The goal has always been to get your school paid for. Which again, is what an offer is.

@Adio10 Sure there’s semantics, but everyone knows what you mean when you say you have an “offer.” They’re talking scholarships. If your not signing a National Letter of Intent it’s not an offer. That goes for D3 as well as D1 and D2 walk ons. You‘ve got an opportunity but not an offer.

@AndraRogers6 I was in this exact position years ago early in my coaching career, my wife helped me realize that I was being ridiculous. I haven’t encouraged a kid to miss prom since and I feel great about it. It’s a one time experience for them, but they will play hundreds of basketball games

Coaches… this cannot happen. Your kids deserve their high school experience. Making a game more important than their experience as a kid ain’t the biz. We are leaders, mentors and relationship builders. This does not exemplify any of that. Coach Bohon, I appreciate your passion for the game but it’s misguided. Allow your kids to be kids. The fact that “several” boys told you they were going to prom should help you change your perspective. Leadership requires sacrifice and this time it’s being asked of you. Praying you see that 🙏🏽 #LeadershipMatters
