@katsuxbt I think it’s funny people don’t know the difference between a hop off the same foot twice and a step to staggered jump stop. Two different movements. A poor official will not understand true advantage gained by the hop vs the 1-2 jump stop. ie…. White chocolate

Allen Iverson says he was so unstoppable one-on-one the NBA rewrote the rulebook to stop him and erased his signature move for good “I remember telling my teammates, how are they gonna stop me in the NBA? Can’t run no 2-3 zone, no 1-3-1, no box-and-one, they got to play me straight up, one-on-one” “Now, four scoring titles later, I don’t understand how a zone came back into the NBA. In the history of the NBA they never had zones” “You got this 6-foot dude winning scoring title after scoring title. Like, all right, now let’s implement a zone. They took the hop-step out the game too because I was hopping over double teams, they can’t stop me”

@CoachMattHayes @DelCurrent It’s hilarious how many genius b-ball experts know it all here. But not one person talking about the armbar that goes w it and reason it works. Not one. This shows who really played the game and who didn’t.

@DelCurrent Insecurity coach, and I genuinely empathize…imposture syndrome is real and a MG. End of the day I’ll never be able to prove causation one way or another for any method or strategy I use. I just try to stay curious, learn from others and keep trying to perfect MY “recipe!”

Why are people arguing about this? Just watch a game and look at how people actually play defense - it’s a combination of sliding and running - and at the end of the day… do whatever version of that you need to stay in front of your man What the hell is wrong with everyone?

@AMPMSose The only way the cross-step is effective on defense is when you’re already beat and you want to just ride the ballhandler’s back hip to keep pushing him the way he’s going. Idk why BBALLBREAKDOWN is trying to act like it’s used as a normal defensive tactic in straight up defense

@bballbreakdown It’s the armbar Nick! See this is why you don’t understand the game. Not one twitter genius has said one word about turning your hips without an armbar. But you wouldn’t know Nick. You never did it

It took me<4 mins to find the following clips of Davion Mitchell demonstrating what I'm talking about. I can assure you, it's the best way to defend on ball, and is not remotely close to being "dumb shit." There might be an occasional slide in there, mostly turn and run
The North Star@ArmstrongJego

@bballbreakdown I've been watching the summer league all week and EVERY SINGLE PLAYER is sliding their feet. The only time a player isn't sliding his feet is when he's either picking up full court, or his man beat him and he is trying to regain. No one in the half court is doing this dumb shit.

@DJAceNBA All the experts on here that never played the game all missing the most important part of this movement. Not ONE genius. All these comments. It shows who has real experience.

Terrance Byrd continues to show why he’s one of the top high-major prospects in the country. At the P32 Elite 75 Showcase, Powered by Revocruit, Byrd showcased the size, skill, and versatility that make him a difference-maker on both ends of the floor. Competing against elite talent, he proved he’s ready for the biggest stage while giving college coaches another reason to keep a close eye on his recruitment. College Coaches can track Terrance Byrd on the Revocruit software.

@AMPMSose @bballbreakdown 😂 Maaan, even if I didn't have a handle this is free eats ALL DAY. Turning and running if you're not beat is dumb AF. You lose leverage, balance, the ability to change direction quickly 😭 This is worse than overly aggressive defenders

Coaches: Stick an NCAA (or high school) rulebook in your backpack during the summer and take 10 minutes a day to read the book on a plane, on vacation, etc. Have lunch with a local basketball official & pick their brain. Find out what new rules or points of emphasis are coming to play for the season. It’s malpractice if you don’t know the rules. 🤷🏼‍♂️😉🏀

Teaching defensive slides at the lower level makes sense. As kids move up levels, the cross over step becomes imperative. There are ways to teach it (chest should stay square to ball) to lessen risk of getting beat by counters in the other direction. Slides (like choppy step closeouts) will become a relic of the past.
