A nice touch at the end of Pat Farrell’s funeral today with his stable silks coming down the Skellatar Park straight one last time. @thebrookracing

How can a lessor blatantly forge signatures to get a lease cancelled without the other owners / lessors knowledge yet not one racing jurisdiction wants to know about it or do anything about it yet don’t dare forget to take your ID card to the races. #tohardbusket

@bruceaslade Interesting stats! Could we see a trend back to the kiwi bred middle distance horses?

📉A Drop In 🇦🇺 Spend on European Tried Horses
#ThoroughbredBusiness
I spend a lot of time in this space & it felt much harder to secure tried horses privately from 🇪🇺 this year, without dropping our quality threshold. A $100m annual spend by 🇦🇺 on tried horses has been suggested, but I’d bet this year that number will be down 20-25%
📊 below @Tattersalls1766 Autumn HIT stats shows this publicly, with Australian spend & numbers purchased down on previous years. This is not because demand is any less. So why? Because demand from other participants has increased also, and supply has not changed. Namely:
• Wathnan Racing - est. Oct 2022 - successfully active on tried horses to compete in feature carnivals in Europe & the Middle East. 5 Royal Ascot 🥇 in 2025
• Emerging markets with little/no breeding industry - Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India etc
• Jumps racing is highly popular again. Their main store horse sale this year was up 20% for instance & they were again among biggest buyers at Tatts HIT
Why do we build 🇪🇺 tried horses into our stable?
• excel at breeding, educating & condition world’s best middle distance turf racehorses
• in 🇦🇺 we have 56 races worth $1m+ for 4yo+. 29 (52%) of these are raced over 1600m+
• able to buy proven racing class & value them higher than 🇪🇺 connections due to our higher prize-money levels. UK min $$ value of Listed race = $100k. NSW is 2x = $200k
Note: all care has been taken to try & get info as accurate as possible. Where you feel mistakes have been made, please let us know so we can correct it

@AttungaRacing @MickWallaceMail @walkerb83 I’d love to see Liztomania win for Todd Payne! Not just because Todd’s a great bloke, he’s a very good horse!

Lessons from the best. Champion jockey Darren Beadman at the Flemington Open Day @cwallerracing

@HWR277 Another thing that is under valued. Many riders look to go through the motions far too often.
Just so much racing, you can see how its easy to get into the habit of just letting things unfold. Rather than having the time to prepare as well as possible for each race

Do trainers take notice of Jockeys recent form?
Do they try and match up their horses style with the most suitable riders style?
Are they even aware that each rider has different strengths and weaknesses? #AskingForAFriend

@J_Walter23 I can’t speak for everyone though. I personally have a handful of riders I like to use regularly. I want someone who’s going to try hard for me and my owners.
