@Guggenhe1m @dmontetheno1 Its never only religions that get NDEs, even atheists experience this. Its not tied to religion but people that had it tie it to religion or God. NDEs also see hell not just heaven sometimes, but why it happens to everyone be it a theist or atheist is a million dollar question.

I’m not sure tbh. This is an area that very little research has been done on, at least as far as I know. But these phenomena collectively weaken reductive materialism and reopen serious metaphysical questions about consciousness and the structure of reality.

@Guggenhe1m @dmontetheno1 Yea but it is interesting that as of now religions have the only framework that fits the data, especially when most Nde claim life changing experience and describe it as "God" or when religions use specific prayers that make excorcisms work. Materialism for sure fails this

@dmontetheno1 They don't prove religions, and idk any major religion that even authoritatively states what these phenomena are. Constructing a path of enquiry into these experiences while appealing to the ghayb/jinn/"other" is highly spurious. Islam and Quran appeal to the knowable

As preparation for my upcoming article on "Adamic Exceptionalism", I've been gathering all the papers that have been written on the topic in the past five years. Look at all the paper titles in the screenshot. It's genuinely crazy that David Solomon Jalajel's 2018 article (and its spiritual successor, Shoaib Ahmed Malik's 2021 book) led to such a flurry of academic activity. Their work inspired a veritable library. The authors of these papers mostly include theologians from a variety of religious persuasions, but also analytic philosophers and scientists. Some of these papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals like Zygon or Theology and Science, with a significant minority in academic platforms like the Al Balagh Academy. A bulk of these papers have been presented to symposia and conferences, others are independent research efforts. Regardless of what you think about Drs. Jalajel/Malik's ideas, it's incredible that they've been able to trigger such a volume of academic activity. People with a wide range of views found their ideas worth engaging with, either positively or negatively. This needs to be marked as a milestone in the recent history of Islamic academics.

As an example there are still some "low christology" scholars on there that are active with no problems.
